I actually thought he JV kept the horse closer to the pace then everyone else seems to think. He allowed the horse to start picking it up on the backside instead of waiting for the turn. The horse did it very easily, very push button. This does not mean he is my derby horse yet I do not see him very far back in the Derby as most of you guys see him. I don't think of him as a late running closer, he's a mid-pack Derby horse.

This will be the only way that I will bet the Derby this year, key CQ in the 2nd, and 3rd spots of the tri. This was my plan after the BCJ and it won't change now...
I think Zanjero can be played the same way. . .

I opinion of his differs alittle from yours as far as his running style. I dont see him as having to be way back.I think he can do that but doesnt have too. I could see him sitting in the "garden" spot in the 2nd tier of horses and hopefully miss some of the drama of the run to the first turn. I really like this horse alot.

He doesn't seem to show much interest in the early stages of the race. His chances in the derby would be much better if he tried for a better spot in the early going.. So far, CQ looks like he's perfectly happy trailing the field for at least the first half of his races.
