Byalip, I'm glad all has gone well for you. My parents wound up not suing- my dad wanted to, but my mother asked him not to- her health declined so rapidly she didn't feel up to the stress of a malpractice suit, I guess. I can only hope the first two idiots who saw my mother took other ostensibly low-risk women who came in with lumps more seriously the next time, but I'll never know.

I agree, most doctors are very competent- my point was, the majority of errors are done by a small number of doctors- so why isn't it easier to get them out of the profession?

Though, I've also read that medical malpractice suits in the end, do not add that much cost to doing medicine; they're just used as an excuse by the insurance companies to justify the money they demand from doctors and patients.

In any event, here's an interesting explainer-type article about the specifics of Elizabeth Edwards' diagnosis:

GR--Everything you said, IMHO--is right on target. Also, INMO, your mother made the right decision. Going through the malpractice suit was far worse than the cancer treatment--even the mastectomy part.

You are essentially on trial and it's terrifying and you feel like you're being thrown to the wolves. I don't think I've ever been as mentally tested in my life--nothing even comes close. And the only coaching/prep you get is "just be yourself".

We were the "little guys" going up against a huge law firm. I can only liken it to watching Xtra Heat at the Breeder's Cup...only I held on. LOL

Yeah, I'm doing great and because of being overly aggressive, pro-active AND EXTREMELY LUCKY, it's history. And I'll always love Beyer for digging me out of a dark place.

Default Poor taste....

I don't care how you feel about lawyers! Not everyone likes them, nor the tactics they use to represent their clients, i get that. You wanna make a statement against lawyers, in terms of all the malpractice cases, that is your right. However, here we are talkin about CANCER! A dispicable, plague like disease, that kills millions all over the world each day. This family has shown true courage, and has many rough months of dealing with this disease ahead of them. This was NOT the time, nor the forum, to make such a statement as you did with this thread! Prayers to the family at the end of the thread, came across as a bit of "oh by the way" words just thrown in for show, after gettin your points across IMO. My heart goes out to the Edwards family, who've already lost a child, and delt with alot of tragedy already. I hope she can beat this again, and they continue to keep a positive attitude, and show the bravery they displayed in their press conference.

In all seriousness...(and as you know...I really hate that)...there can be no blemish which would detract from your inner as well as your outer beauty.

I believe God may well have crafted you in the likeness of one of his saints...one of the really pretty ones.

If ever I am sentenced to live out my life on a remote island and have but one object I could take with me.....

....why I would choose the TOPPS '58 Baseball card set.

UPS!!!

I mean you!!

ror!

And now I stop being serious as I am making myself very sick.

I'm sorry Cooby.

I'm just a natural jackazz.

But I did mean this:

"In all seriousness there can be no blemish which would detract from your inner as well as your outer beauty.

And now I will disappear from this thread.

Sorry I played my "C" card. I bring it out now and then just to shut up some pinheads.

I'd rather talk about Hard Spun's win...because there will be a lot of good material over at the rockportharbor.com website.
