i remember when mike huckabee (former gov of ark, out due to term limits-now running for pres (insert hysterical laughter here)) got all offended and declared that natural disasters should not ever be referred to as an act of god. he took it personally on gods behalf...

Ditto. I believe that it is better to be safe than sorry, anyway. Let's say that I believe in God and then I die... I get to the afterlife and find out there is no God, what did I lose to begin with? Nada. But what happens if I DON'T believe and get up there and find out there IS a God and then I'm screwed? No thanks.

another good point. You have nothing to lose but everything to gain by believing in God. Natural Disasters happen, bad things happen to people, people have to suffer, it is part of life. This is not God punishing people, but it is simply part of life.

Someone brought up money, noone says you have to pay money to go to church, but if you can afford it, why not give the Church money?

What about when that long handled strange looking basket gets passed down the aisle...and if you don't volunteer .....it stays there in front of you?

but that's not faith. besides, i figure when i die, and there isn't an afterlife, i won't know if i was 'right' or 'wrong'. i'll be dead. but if there is a god, i'll be the same way i was when i was a kid and mom was right, and i was wrong....hey, my bad-i thought i knew better. but imo, playing you believe is no better then just not believing, and not worrying about it.

i mean, i'm going to burn in hell because i didn't subscribe to a certain church, and give them 10%?

I personally don't believe you HAVE to go to church in order to be saved... JMHO. I think it has more to do with the faith inside of you than actually attending church. Some people just have to go to church or they get lax. I'm not one of those.

P.S. I do have faith.

In the past...and too many times.

I enjoyed sitting in the balcony with my 2 sisty uglies...I mean lovely sisters....in the winter and taking the fluffy things off their coats, rolling them into hard projectiles and then opening fire on the people below.

There is no beating the Catholics on Christmas Eve, though....midnight mass.

NOBODY beats them.

See for yourself....go with a slight buzz on.......see all the beautiful colors.....listen to the angelic like choir singing the finest songs of this time......smell the smell of the mesmerizing incense.

It jist don't git no better 'an 'at.

Morte, us Episcopalians can rival you Catholics every holiday, midnight on Christmas Eve, or lunchtime on Ash Wednesday......doesn't matter. We both have much in common.

Keep in mind though, our doctrine isn't as hard and fast as yours, we're more open and accepting.

I'll be darned.

But I resigned from Catholicism quite some time ago and am now unattached.

Interesting though.

Do you have a daughter in Tennessee by any chance?
