Sending your dad all my best. On the bright side, being relatively young, he'll recover from surgery faster than he would if he were in say his 70's. And three cheers to him for going to the doctor when he didn't feel right!

I hope all went well for your dad today...like GR said he's young and should bounce back. My boss' wife had quadruple bypass after a heart attack at age 78 and she's still going stong 8 years later! She's healthier than I am....walks a mile and a half every afternoon and gardens most of the day.

thanks for all your best wishes and prayers guys. Long day at the hospital for me and my family, only to do it again tomorrow. Nurse comes in and says the doctor is going to take an extra 4 hours with his surgery before my dads. We sit and wait to see what happens, and we find out that he got pushed back tomorrow morning at 7:30. Back to the hospital bright and early, but my dad told me to bring my laptop because they have wireless internet in the waiting room so I might be post happy for a few hours tomorrow lol.

Thanks again for your thoughts and prayers!

Same thing happened to my dad 3 1/2 years ago. He ended up having quadruple bypass surgery. Of course he had smoked 3 packs a day as long as I can remember. Hasn't touched one since.

I didn't note, my dad gave up smoking 2 months ago. He smoked for 30 years before he just gave it up, but he was a healthy man besides the bad bad cigs.

I quit 7 years ago and I can tell that it is really hard for the first year and for me it took about 5 years before I stopped thinking about smoking.

I have had 2 angio's and my Doctor has promised me my bypass in the future if I survive a host of other problems.

Best of luck and a very good day tomorrow.

I'm sitting on my computer here in the waiting room, the nurse just came in and said the surgery is complete and that everything went well. Just thought I would give you guys all an update.

That is great Irish. The hard part is over. He'll be back to his old self quicker than you'd expect.
