I am not so sure that ol Jimbo is a lock. They may just be defering to BB but if they have a 4-8 season I can see the whole thing blown up and Bowden and his guy forced out. Why couldn't you see Petrino at Miami? He is a perfect fit.

stan heath should never have been let go by the hawgs. i'm not sure exactly what they expected from him at arkansas, but he was doing a very good job.
for whatever reason, many fans here have unrealistic expectations. then reality strikes, and they're unhappy fans with more unrealistic expectations.
case in point, how many down here thought they had a chance vs USC the last few years.

i have a feeling someone approached fisher, and that's why fsu came out with the 'he's our guy when bowden leaves' line. i thought a year ago when they hired him that they were just prepping for their future. i think BB is just trying to outlast paterno.

Apparenlty Jimbo is in a buyout situation, just like a head coach now. If he leaves he owes the school money, if they don't higher him as the next head coach they owe him money. Not sure any figure was discussed, but it was said to be in the millons.

i'm probably wrong but i don't see petrino putting up with that gangster mentallity that ends up at miami.

other than fisher and the o-line coach, that fsu staff is old and been together along time, off and on through the years. if they lose 6-7 games again, i could see them blowing the whole thing up and i think petrino would be a better fit at fsu than miami.

if fisher has an "out clause" in his contract, i'm sure it's for wvu. i can't see that being open anytime soon.

Rumor had it, Richie Rod had an out clause for Clemson. Had Bowden left, thats where the Tiger admin would have turned too...again, just a rumor that had been going around Death Valley.

that would make some sense. the offenses and personnel would be VERY similar, other than clemson's D is better. coach rod is a wvu guy i don't think he is going anywhere. i'd be shocked if he did.

That Tech job will not be an easy one, but he is a nice coach.

Petrino is all about the gangster. He took in many questionable recruits at Louisville. How do you think they got so good so fast? I dont think he would want to follow Bowden.

With Schiano turning down Michigan have they become the biggest coach hiring debacle?

You are right, I meant not an easy one.

I didn't catch it till I re-read your post 3 times. I think he is in for it there, but he is a nice coach, and even though Clemson will see him every year, I wish him luck, he will need it.

Possibly, but it did take a whole lot of attention off of Arkansas...

hate to see him leave the midshipmen. five bowl games in a row. maybe not the top flight of bowls, but they still played post season.
i wish him luck at ga tech. he's going to need it.

they say no news is good news. but in this case, it's just no news.
it's probably good for grobe that he turned them down, for a lot of the yahoos around here, anything north of I-40 is yankees territory. i doubt most 'fans' here ever heard of wake forest. there was a lot of negativity when he looked like he'd be the new coach.

I heard the same when Bowden was "looking" at the job. Very tough spot for ARK and Long right now, but maybe this Wolverine fiasco will take some attention off them...

There are some very good assistants out there, maybe now is the time to higher one of them instead of going for a "big" name.

yeah, i posted that a day or two ago--go after a good OC or DC who's looking to make the leap, and would consider arkansas a step up. or go into the new 1-a (formerly 2-a) division schools.
