Actually, I was at the Tahoe Biltmore this weekend, and they now offer Win, Place and Show on NASCAR wagering. And that's a small casino. I'm sure larger casinos and casino networks might have other fun offerings.

Most casinos also offer NASCAR parlay sheets with pairs of drivers matched against each other. Just have to pick the driver that will finish higher of the two. Pick three, four, five or more....just like on a football parlay sheet....without giving or getting points.

Last year for the Daytona 500 I had Ryan Newman, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., and Kevin Harvick at $50 each.

Harvick won on the last lap, and I had him at 17-1.

If interested in wagering in Nevada, be aware odds fluctuate WIDELY on individual drivers between casinos, and change much on qualifying days, practice days and race day.

For those that dont get the whole Nascar thing. I was right there with ya, couldnt believe someone was dumb enough to sit and what cars turn left for 3 hours!!! Hell if I wanted to see horse power I would go to the "horse" races. Co-worker invites me over for BBQ, oh and the "race" will be on. Hey, good BBQ and I can put up with just about anything. First race, I look at the cars and say "Gee, that one has a pretty cool paint schemethingy". Next weekend, "Hey where is that car with the cool paint schemethingy?", Next week, "Hey who the hell is that bumping into "my" car with the cool paint schemethingy?". And 5 years later I am one of the "dumb" ones that sit and watch cars turn left for 3 hours.hehe When you get watching close, following the drivers, and the teams, believe it or not, it becomes very interesting. My Blue Front Amazon Parrot has picked up our cheering for our favorite driver " Go Matt, Come on Buddy, You can do it". And I had a dog named after my drivers crew chief...sick I know, but true. And if anyone sees Jeff Gordon, give him a good bitch slap for me for wrecking "my" driver Matt Kenseth.......

I am married to the Anti-Rousch, so no rooting for Kenseth here , but I *did* start with NASCAR the same way you did, except it was Kahne who hooked me in the first few starts of his rookie year. There is sooooo much more to NASCAR racing than turning left. Huge amount of technology and strategy.

Gordon is probably still seeing stars from that hit...

I have always said the same thing, with all of the outlets, why hasnt someone stepped up and atleast attempted a huge media blitz to try to get a bigger fan base. I have had people tell me, "Well besides the KY Derby, I have never heard about any other races much less any actual horses names". I cant believe with all of the money in this game, someone hasnt thought to get some of these high powered media savy firms and attempted to put this sport more on the map to the general public.

yeah, that's maybe the whole idea behind expanding the breeders cup.

perhaps by dumbifying the event it will appeal to more NASCAR types of fans?

in retrospect, the ladies day idea is actually quite brilliant, as it will most likely get a long of drunk necks tuned in on friday!

if the bc people really wanted to get it together, they should tie in tshirts with ladies day. the ratings would soar through the roof!

Sportsman's Park tried to tie horse racing in with NASCAR
hopefully the rest of the industry doesn't have the same result

as far as drunk necks.. the OTB I use moved into a bar. I imagine the bar thought that gambling = drinking.

The bar is kicking the OTB out after the Ky Derby this year

For all the talk about it, there isn't any financial reason to- the $$ in racing is gambling and breeding, and neither one really needs a "fan" base. I agree, it's annoying (my uncle, who has spent his life around horses couldn't understand why Seabiscuit merited a book, as he "never even ran in the Kentucky Derby"), but with more $$ to be made breeding a stallion than racing him, there's no reason to keep a horse running, and without a superstar horse to root for, what's to draw new fans? Somehow, I just don't see "Pletcher" jerseys becoming a big seller.

horse racing and nascar in the same sentence just makes me cringe

i'll take tennis way over nascar and golf isn't any better then nascar. ok i might be able to watch some golf but not for to long.

but for a few tracks-daytona, talladega,bristol - all you have is a bunch of cookie cutter 1mile ovals with cars spread out all over the place being lapped 10 or 15 times. watching paint dry is all it is
