Default NYRA and NTRA should put up additional $1,000,000 for the Woodward

Somebody in horse racing needs to make this Curlin- Big Brown matchup happen. Fork over the extra $1,000,000 and make it happen.

That's a good idea. To spice it up more, why not also card a Seabiscuit vs War Admiral rematch?

Considering IEAH is going to the PA Derby because it is now worth $1M, an extra $1M in the Woodward will make it difficult for them to pass without being exposed as the cowards they are. Don't go shooting your mouth off saying your horse is better than Curlin if you can't back it up.

Who cares what they say?

If someone does something you don't like you solve that by giving them money? Who really cares what IEAH says? It's not like Iavarone is to be taken seriously like, say, Paris Hilton.

Hey, whatever happens, we'll always have that great showdown between AP Arrow and Rising Moon in the Whitney to look back on. Still reeling over that.
It was a race for the ages, one we can tell our grand kids about. I was there!

Yes, it was special. I'll always remember it even though I bet Notional and he busted a leg during the race.

He did? Sorry to hear that. Nice horse. O' neill had a bad day that day with Thors Echo also not running well.

Rising Moon also hurt himself and will be out the rest of this year.

What would we do without Student Council?

The Whitney was probably the racing highlight of the year.....though apparantly you missed Commentator even being in the race.

Mark Hennig trained Notional by the way.

Where exactly is the currently bankrupt NYRA going to come up with the money? The overnight purse account? The marketing budget (as Churchill did for the Foster)? If the NTRA wanted to do something, that's a different thing.

They will get it back in ticket sales and handle. Big Brown and Curlin at Saratoga could easily bring in an extra 20,000. Bigger crowd than the Travers. Probably even get some tv money out of it. ESPN would pick it up on ESPN2 or Classic.

$1,000,000 is always easier to part with when it isn't yours, I find.

They'd only need an extra 333,333 to show up to make up that extra million.

Actually, what is funny is that he said that the Haskell would do nothing for the horse, if they ran in the Haskell it would be because it is all about the money which they aren't. Apparently he underestimated Iavarone's sleaziness.
