Did OJ kill his wife and her friend?
Everybody has an opinion but the jury found him not guilty,
Had I been on that jury I would have voted likewise...Mark Furhman (sp?) made it impossible to convict him.
Is he an idiot? His actions since the crime scream "YES"
But...if we incarcerated folks for being idiots....
This latest crime is hardly worth a long sentence...
Our legal system don't state that it's ok to "get even" or balance the scales...
He should have been sentenced solely on the merits of this conviction...
Was he?
Even if he is guilty of murder...he didn't get away with anything...he simply avoided man's law...I believe there is a higher justice.
I also believe that it is better to let a guilty man go free than to punish an innocent man...isn't that a cornerstone of our system?
I find no joy in this....I find the man pathetic, yes...distasteful, but I don't get the vulturistic joy of some...

5 until he is ELIGIBLE for parole. I was watching CNN on lunch and the way they were talking was that he was doing 9-10 guaranteed.

CNN said "Parole is a gift, and ANYTHING you have done can be used against you in a parole hearing"

If you hold the same litmus test for saying he was not guiltly of murder because of the results of the muder trial to the results of this trial, why can you not accept the decision?

The judge clearly stated before sentencing that the verdict and sentence was based solely on the results of this trial. He was guilty of like 10 different things. It's not my fault he screwed up.

That's justice baby!

I actually agree with this....

If the jury in that murder case proclaimed he was innocent, then that should have no influence on this case. But I believe it did influence the jury....

Yes he probably did it but...it sets a dangerous example by where people that are actually innocent will never be fully cleared of their name.

The innocent verdict in the criminal murder trial was as racist as it gets.

He was found guilty of murder during the civil case if anyone remembers that.

Goldman & Nichole's DNA were in OJ's car... it was an outrageous verdict.

Now this dumbass is found guilty of KIDNAPPING, armed robbery basically, using force to kidnap.. etc.

The sentence had everything to do with the current CONVICTIONS. If people feel it also helps vindicate that OJ is a MURDERER than AWESOME!

Well it is. I don't know the laws for holding someone up at gunpoint, I didn't realize it was that many years. Eh you're probably right I don't know what I'm saying.

Stop trying to produce common sense. Anyone can walk around with a gun, tout it around and show people, point it at people, threaten people, but if the trigger aint pulled, then there is no crime.

Matter of fact, on my Friday night, I am about to go get my grandpa's rifle and sit on the corner and point it at cars driving by, see if I just can't get myself in a little trouble.

Actually, dont rob anyone at gunpoint please. It has happened to me and its not very fun to be honest.

Never thought I'd ever hear someone stick of for OJ Simpson. He's as scum as it gets.

I was being sarcastic. I am ok with concealed weapons, but people are saying that in this case, that OJ did nothing wrong or shouldn't be punished. HE POINTED A GUN AT SOMEONE and used it as force.

From everything I have read, all the sentencing has been within guidlines and has been 'normal' for this type of activity. I am guessing judges aren't stupid and this broad looked up past cases to see what they got, and made sure it was close, given the probablity that any harsher sentence an appeal for unfair trail or whatever they could cook up....

The Goldmans took a measure of credit for Simpson's fate, saying their relentless pursuit of his assets to satisfy a $33.5 million wrongful-death judgment "pushed him over the edge" and led him to commit the robbery to recover some of his sports memorabilia.
From the CNN article.

I agree he's a pathetic person, but I question the sentence based on the details of the event as reported....perhaps the judge had info that we do not, I don't know but it seems pretty steep....again, all I'm saying is that the sentence SHOULD reflect this case only...I can't see inside the judge's mind but I think the concern is valid enough to express.
Of course I remember the results of the civil case, but in Civil Court, the standard of proof is a lot lower, he wasn't found "guilty" he was held "responsible"...we don't use civil decisions against a person's criminal record!
How do you know the decision was racist? As I said, I would have voted not guilty and last time I checked, I was white....let me look again.........yep, still white. How can one vote to convict with a clear conscience when an admittedly racist cop handled key evidence, the same cop who admitted planting evidence in the past on black defendants because they were involved with a white woman, and bragged that he would do it again? When several other investigating officers shared his views, when key evidence was carried around in an officer's trunk instead of being turned into the evidence locker thus violating chain-of-custody regs, when the time line never quite fit, when Simpson's medical condition raised questions concerning his physical ability to commit such a violent act(s), and yes...when the damn glove didn't fit!!! (i know all about the science there but the glove didn't fit in front of the jury and the inept prosecutors had no answer). Simpson had the dream team and Darden and what's her name had no answers to much of the science...I mean hell, Simpson had F. Lee Bailey third chair!!! Bottom line...the case as presented fell well short of "beyond a reasonable doubt". I watched the circus every day, right or wrong, the jury had little choice...to call it racist is over-simplistic at best!

Come on Scavs...never said he did nothing wrong or shouldn't be punished...merely questioning the severity of the sentence...obviously it will be appealed and if within guidelines will be upheld. The issue to me is the glee that some express...

I am happy as hell man, OJ KILLED HIS WIFE and innoncent people. Karma got his ass big time. Ole boy thought he was higher then the rest of the world. It always does. that is why Karma and I have become friends and I do EVERYTHING not to piss it off.

I am not the smartest person in the world, but I for sure know that I shouldn't be walking into a room with a gun to steal something.

You understand that if he didn't bring the gun, he is probably not in jail now. Guns are NO JOKE, just ask Plex and the 3.5 years he will be serving

Everybody has an opinion but the jury found him not guilty,
even though the evidence was overwhelming, he was found guilty in a civil trial, has made no restitution as per the civil suit and later co-authored a book talking about "If" he had done it.
Had I been on that jury I would have voted guilty...
Is he an idiot? His actions before, during and since the crime scream "YES"
But...if we incarcerated folks for being idiots....Then there would be no one posting here.
This latest crime is hardly worth a long sentence...but, since he's such a scumbag, who cares?
Our legal system doesn't state that it's ok to "get even" or balance the scales...
But, since he essentially got away with the brutal murdering of 2 people, who cares? What goes around comes around.
So now he can add thief to his growing resume of why he's a piece of s.hit.
I believe there is no higher justice. He literally got away with murder once. He's paying a little restitution back now.
I also believe that it is better to let a guilty man go free than to punish an innocent man...isn't that a cornerstone of our system?
However, nothing about Simpson is innocent and he's getting a small slice of what he should be getting.
I find a lot of joy in this....I find the man pathetic and distasteful, but I don't get how someone could defend Simpson. At some point it's best to step off the soapbox and just let scumbags get what is coming to them, instead of making it about some "cause" no one cares about.
Who cares? I do, you don't...pretty much end of discussion...the old soapbox reference again, but you're standing on one also..."no one cares"...perhaps in your world, in mine a lot of folks do....so, I'm fine with my world, I'm sure you are fine with your's. One point though, I'm not defending Simpson...I find him as pathetic as you do, but the Constitution gives equal rights to all of us...even someone like Simpson.

I know you are kidding but you can be arrested for making your hand into the shape of a gun and pointing it at someone. I believe they call it an assertive action.

Doesn't make it right but ****
