Does anyone think Utah could win the AP vote out of curiosity?
No. Too far down. No way they could win it if Florida and/or Texas wins their bowl games. If Oklahoma wins, I'd say that Utah has a better claim but still wouldn't get a sniff.

media wouldn't take a non big name school, unless their other options did something to really tick them off, which won't happen.

I actually think it's the other way around. I think the media is looking to give the non-BCS schools a shot. They did it with BYU in 1984. The media looks for the best story. Boise St. a couple of years ago was a nice one. Utah this year destroying Alabama, who until the SEC championship game was #1 in the country, is a nice one. The media has to love this. Nothing creates interest like controversy and Utah has created some big time controversy now. What better way to take advantage of the situation than by voting Utah #1 in the AP poll? It won't happen but I think that would be great.

Oklahoma blows TCU away, and Utah is life and death to win at home against TCU. Yep Utah still has a chance.

I'm failing to see how this addresses the question that was asked. As it stands, Utah will likely finish from 3-5 in the final polls. The winner of the Okl/Florida game will be #1. Texas will be #2. #3-5 will be between the title game loser, USC, and Utah. The question asked was does anyone thing Utah could win the AP vote? I don't think they can. The question was not whether Utah could compete with the top teams. I don't think they can. I never thought Alabama was a truly top team but there's no doubt that they were one of the elite teams in the SEC this year.
