i'll throw in my two cents worth of opinion , which most of the bettors will think is worth less lol... bad decisions, bad rides, all the jocks do more than we think, they are human and make poor split second moves, however it's part of the game you take a risk on when betting,if you did not have the winner, then no matter what happened in the race, you picked the wrong horse, no excuses you picked the wrong horse, pretty simple. .let me add, you picked the horse who had a bad ride, stumbled or just did,nt want to run, doesn,t matter if this happened to you , it was the wrong pick

To summarize.
I think betting on horses is a form of gambling.

Saw the last race and there was no chance he was going to win anyways as the way that #1 horse was charging past horses. Rosario got snubbed at the rail and the best he could have been was third. Unless you had this 4-1 shot for a show bet, I say leave it alone.

Props to Vic for getting this jocks career to the height it is right now.

But in another Post you said and I quote

There are plenty of better jocks in that colony

WHich is it

1 there are plenty of Jocks better than Joel

or

2 he gets good mounts because the jockey colony is not as good as he is.

Nobody said differently. Did they? Maybe they don't want that kind of crappy ride when he does have enough horse to win. Why is it off limits to criticize the job someone does? Happens in any other profession. Why is it taboo in this one? This is a weird fkn sport, man. I mean really. Bunch of constant day-in day-out brainwashing. Sometimes it's like a bunch of cult people (can't point out a mistake by the HOLY LITTLE MEN above you.)

The colony is less than stellar.....ergo...he gets good mounts. I guess props go out to VS for actually getting trainers to ride him when there are guys like Epsinoza,Bejarano,Gomez, and Kayla Stra who are much better jocks than him.

No chance he was gonna win? The horse got stopped ...then the rest of the field passed him. How the hell can you say he wasnt gonna win?

I think you took one too many stupid pills tonight.

There is nothing wrong for criticizing a jocks ride but this particular one seemed pointless to me. It wasnt like he was going to win even if he had a clean ride. The #1 was clearly the best and no one was going to beat that horse. If it were a difference of winning the race and coming second then I will side with the post. I am very sure it wasnt the only jockey blunder of the day so I dont see how this is different. Like I said before unless you had a show bet on this horse, I say leave it alone.

To go off and blast a jock for a bad ride and then blast his agent is really dumb. The jock is contending for a riding title against two of todays best jocks in Gomez and Bejarano (even these guys pull in a bad ride or two but no one cites that). Vic put him in the right spots and the jock took it to his advantage.

How can you honestly say that the 8 hprse had no shot of winning? The horse was placed right off of a speed horse who was puked in the stretch....gets stopped.....then has the field pass him. If the 8 doesnt get stopped, gets first jump, the horse could have easily won. To say that nobody was beating the 1 when you have a horse in the position the 8 was in is rather crazy.

For the record...I didnt blast VS.....I just suggested he contact some connections up at EMD, because if JR continues to ride with his head up his a## he is not gonna get mounts. I also said he was doing a helluva job convincing owners/trainers in So-CAl that his jock can ride. Actually complimented him.

I wouldn't say he's horrendous on logical horses, but he's much better on bombs. Pup's so hard for the Princess, and barely friendly with the Queen.

OK I finally watched the replay of the race here is what I saw Joel Drops to the Rail somewhere around the 5 furlong marker to save Ground nothing wrong with that is there atleast 5 length from the lead horse. from inside the 7/16th pole until he checked out of the race he was commited to the inside, sure it wound up being the wrong choice. But there is No way that was a Horrendus ride. The majority of the time a tired horse on the lead will drift out entering the turn or when he straightens away. I am feel certain if you were to talk to Rosario thats what he would tell you.

I cannot understand all the negative things being said here about Joel he is a good up and coming rider for crying out loud he is only 24 years old. and only 2 years removed from losing his bug(not sure about that one). He is going to continue to improve and make better choices as he gets older. So IMO he is not going anywhere in the near future.

And Vic you are doing a great job with this kid I see he rides 6 of the 8 races friday and 9 out of 10 races Saturday. of those 15 mount in 2 days I see you are riding for 14 different trainers. Keep up the good work

I mentioned this in trip notes, his ride on Ventana in the San Pedro stakes on 1/19/09 was a ride that simply needs to be seen to believed.

There are plenty of better jocks in that colony.
Really....suicidal pace.....really? You really can't say this horse had a shot can you? Joel is inconsistent but a talented Joc. Just don't bet his mounts and move on....Vic just had surgery so leave him alone.
