Pass the damn slots (with the pruses getting a reasonable amount), give your states racing business a chance to compete against surrounding slot tracks (except naturally the bluegrass state) and you wont have to worry about cancelling the freakin Ohio Derby. And while you are at it either further fund the recruiting slush fund for Tressel or stop playing USC.
While I agree with you about government agency getting involved with private business... they already passed slots in Ohio (July 15th, shortly after the state of Kentucky whiffed as normal on their chance) and my guess is this action was tied into that bill somehow.

But they are using the horseman money without any reimbursement. Add that to the fact that they are trying to stick horseman with a miniscule cut of the pie (4%) of the slots money (based on what the tracks said they should get!) and the scenario is a bad prescedent. Doesnt matter that much in the grand scheme if you dont race in Ohio but as a horseman it is scary to see the state take a more active role in doling your money out, especially in this case when the likelihood is that all of that 150k will go to out of state horseman and owners.

yup... Pletcher will probably show up with Join in the Dance, Al Khali, and a bunch of his other 3rd stringers and take it down.

Ohio racing is like the Moon... we know it's there, and one time humans actually reached out to get there, but really we don't care about it much.

Al Khali is now winning on the turf under Mott.

River Downs is a nice diamond in the rough, and I think in great part the reason why is its location. See Thistle and Beulah. River is far removed (not that far but far enough) from "the element".
Bismuth?? or just simple carbon?? which one is designated as "the" element? I've never known.

oh wait...my bad...
