This race and the Prioress should swap gradings.

Does it matter that this race is for 3YO and Up and the Prioress is for 3YO?

Should there be a second Grade 1 sprint for 3YO fillies. IMO, no. Most years the race hasn't had one entrant with a triple digit Beyer (yes I realize the 2008 winner has had many triple digit Beyers but she is the giant exception in this race).

I bet the Presque Isle race early hoping for a $6.80 or so payoff on Informed Decision. $3.80?? If I saw the odds I would never have bet her at that price. Would've expected Diamondrella and Game Face to take a little more money. Maybe the PID bettors are sharp.

She was 4-for-4 with four triple digit Beyer wins on synthetic coming into the race ... and the other big names hadn't tried it yet.

A New York bred based out of Finger Lakes was 2nd. That horse had 3 sharp wins in a row over PID in her last 3 tries ... and couldn't outrun a goat on dirt. I think handicappers are just much more tuned in that proven form over the surface - or at least a similar surface - is very key.

This would have been a great race on real dirt, but once again poly junk ruins a great field of horses and turns it into a chalky result. Its going to really hit hard come 2 months, when we see a "what could have been" Breeders Cup on the junk. If this were at Belmont or Churchill, this year's BC would be one for the ages.

I thought yesterday's result was somewhat of an overlay, I know he was 4/1 on the ML but he was the best horse on poly for my money. A $7.90 payout was a steal in my opinion.

I cant take any race (save for the BC races) on the poly seriously, but good call. I assume you mean Cherokee Focus? I watched the race but honestly have never heard of this horse.

We can get into a poly handicapping discussion sometime, I think if handicappers understand the surface they can be sucessful at making a few dollars. Basically the way I look at it nullifies the strength of dirt speed horses, an american strength and that is a good place to start when looking at these type of races.

5 year old Sweet Lorena and her connections deserve plaudits for her achievements. 4 times stakes placed on dirt at Finger Lakes prior to this G3 second on tapeta. 24-12-7-3 $331,880 is quite a record . Here's a recap on http://nybreds.com/ .
