You say he lost to a claimer. Desert Boom is a very good horse. He's a stakes horse. It's irrelevant that he's a former claimer. Siren Lure and Pure As Gold, who ran 1st and 2nd, are both fomer claimers.

I have no idea if DM could have won if he wasn't sick, but his nose loss to Desert Boom did not bother me. Desert Boom is a solid horse and DM had a really bad trip that day.

apparently some think that once a claimer, always a claimer. a lot of horses run in claiming races, they're the backbone of the industry! some are able to rise thru the ranks. it shouldn't be a lifetime black mark on them, that's ridiculous!!

In this case, it is especially silly because the best horses in the Pat O' Brien were former claimers. It makes no sense to say that DM can't win the race because a former claimer just beat him. This race is against former claimers too.

No, I don't think so. However he has run in $50k claiming races several times. He has been claimed several times.

Bordonaro actually ran in a MCL40K claiming race. It's funny that all of the top West coast sprinters right now are former claimers.

Nope, a maiden special weight, even ran an 86 Beyer. He was claimed three different times though. Kind of amazing for a horse that has never run lower than an 81 Beyer.

He won't answer questions. You need to go through his agent if you want to ask him anything. The horse got a "swell-head" ever since he won the Eclispe for best 2 year old.

Brass Hat's first out was like a $15kMCL at Turfway, wasn't it?

Yeah, was 32-1 and closed to finish 2nd. He then finished 2nd in a MSW and won the Rushaway as a maiden.
