didn't the drf article show they increased handle from last year?

This topic does bring up something that has always confused me about horse racing. I know it's been talked about a few times over on the ESPN board as well. Why don't these tracks- at least on the weekdays- race at night? I mean the live on-track attendance would be higher. And would handle on track and simulcast handle really go down if there are more people with free time at night (after they get off work)?

I've heard excuses like horsemen putting in ridiculously long days if places race at night, and that sort of stuff. But at Canterbury Park they have $1 night. Admission, hot dogs, beers, and sodas only $1. The younger crowd that comes out for it is quite large.

I just don't understand why more tracks don't race at night.. it seems like a no-brainer to me. Oh yeah... Canterbury did the twilight thing too. On Saturdays. It didn't go over too well except for Claiming Crown Day. I think racing should either be at noon or 1, or wait 7 p.m. to start the race card.

Mike ...

... I've always commended you on your exceptional reading ability ... but ... maybe six weeks of continuous racing has dulled it a bit.

Go back and re-read my post ... I said straight-out that the experiment was a "significant success" ... without their resorting to gimmicks like free T-shirts.

Where do you see "bashing" in that? Praising and bashing are opposites.

Besides which ... I'm the one who created this thread ... then bumped it up when it didn't get sufficient attention. All the news on this forum about the experiment being a success is a direct result of my efforts.

Look ashamed ... look very ashamed.

hold on now...i've gone back and re-read the thread...someone somewhere called it a gimmick, because i put in a reply that i didn't think it was one...but funny thing is, that original post isn't up there anymore.

something rotten around here.

When you reply to a post ...

... the original post can't be fiddled with within the reply. No matter what you do ... you can't edit or delete your original post within this message that I'm posting now.

What you described is not possible on this forum.

That's a filthy lie ... and you had better apologize for it.

You have no understanding of the mechanics of this forum.

What you describe is impossible ... and a blatant slander against my integrity.

You better apologize ... right now.

I just went back to the first page of this thread ...

... and NO ONE replied to my post #12.

I don't know what you're up to Danzig ... but you're a bigger liar than Joe Wilson ... and all the evidence on this thread proves it for the entire forum membership to see.

If you don't apologize immediately ... your status on this forum will forever be absolutely zero.

nostradamus had it in his post. so, i apologize that i missed it in that post. my fault! was rushing to dinner, sorry again.

i was thinking it was impossible, glad to see it is.

and thanks bb, for rushing to judgement about me being a huge liar... apparently you were in as big a hurry as i!

Bumping this thread up ... to give Mike a chance to see and respond to my Post #26.

It's a rare opportunity for him ... to see that he can occasionally misread something.

Mike = 99 and 44/100 % pure ... this thread was the other 56/100 %.
