Good point. You definitely have to ajust to the raceshape after reading the form. They could of taken a page out of that textbook ride Kent gave Diva Ash yesterday. Nice point also Rollo, they have big plans for this colt. I guess shortening up is not in those right now. Speaking of that NW1, wasnt this the spot McCleans Music was aiming for. I hope he is still around...

And yet there is a 7f first level allowance for straight 3yos later on the card.

Guess the pressure to make the Preakness was on.
I don't know that 'wilted' is the word I'd use. He ran extremely fast fractions (some of the fastest I've seen going two turns at FG in recent years) and was just edged late while being 12 clear of third. He fought the rider that day, so I think they overreacted and tried to get him to settle in the mornings. Not only did that not work, but they pissed away a race that was theirs to lose by strangling him back and passing on an easy lead.

He's finished pretty well considering the circumstances both times routing, so I don't think a cutback is necessary. They just have to let him use his speed and hopefully as he matures, he'll be able to ration it better than he did at Fair Grounds. But that abomination of a ride he got today told us nothing.

I don't think the cutback was absolutely necessary, either, but in the face of the filly cutting back yesterday it just seemed inconsistent.

Plus, if they really are hell bent on having him settle behind horses, a 7f race early in his career with a couple of confirmed frontrunners might keep him off the front end.

I agree. I was puzzled with Might cutting back, although she was terriffic.

Wouldn't be Derby day without some fun rumors starting. I don't know if they're just expecting the favorite to scratch again because it's been a recent trend, but some folks are all 'oh I got a reliable source' that Dialed In's gonna go out. Of course I heard all these reports saying he looked fantastic just this morning. Zito's been pretty excited the whole time. Unless the horse spontaneously combusted in his stall around lunch time, I'm not sure what could've possibly gone wrong.

I thought the "Money" segment on the Versus coverage was fun.

Maria Menounos looks great, and even better after putting the face to the facts disclosed in the recent Howard Stern interview.

How about Rosario? I lost count of how many times Smiling Tiger checked in the stretch.

I'll have to watch the replay... I was fixated on Capt Candyman Can's four furlong middle move while four wide.

That race has really stuck it to me over the years, I should just have a Mint Julep when it comes around next year.

Only seen it one time, but was The 3 horse affecting his stretch run?

Im beyond livid, as I had the 3 on about 6 different p4 tickets, loaded for bear in the last two races too...im now only alice to one ticket....4,5,10,12,13 // 8

My whole body went numb when Aikenite got up... GL the rest of the way

Unfortunately I needed Doubles Partner or Prince Will to get up for the exacta, but you just can't let Get Stormy get away with those soft fractions..

Great ride by Ramon. Maybe some of those left coast haters will get a good look at how good he really is today.

More importantly, Alan nailed the scoop on the attendance figure before NBC did.
