I just don't understand why you guys would question the predictive capabilities of a guy named Nostradamus.

True, but will he run up the track here? This field is hardly awe inspiring. Good reward aint exactly a win machine and the rest have questions.

If they are going to try a grade 2 field, wouldnt this be the one to try? This field isnt much better than the mcarthur. I think Wanderin boy wires them but i think FC has enough to get a piece. Dont you?

I dont think the race is tough at all. Im commenting more on the prep into the race, and his placement in the last. Oh, and Cornhole calling the shots, Cornhole isnt calling any shots, hes just on for the ride.

It is obvious it wasn't Tagg's choice? Really? Where else was he going to run him? Cornelio worked him the other morning and it was slow, but he said he left something in the tank for saturday.

The owners did not pick this one. They wanted to go to Hawthorne. Even their website says that.

I agree- there doesnt appear to be any kind of "plan" here. I am definitely not a Funny Fan but I do respect what he has accomplished. They had to figure in advance that this race wouldnt come up very deep considering the placement (being sandwiched within weeks between the woodward and jcgc) and it would have been nice to see FC prepped properly for this one. Oh well, we will see.

He only has to beat two horses for a slice.

I guess thats how they rationalize running him in this spot, thinking he only has to beat a few to get a slice.

There was no planning to put him in this spot, no trainer plans ahead like that. Its really a bush league move, thats why I say it has to be the owners making the decision. You are correct, he would have been better suited to prep up to this race and get all the money.

I hope he runs well, that being said I will be surprised if he shows up at all.

No plan? The plan is Brooklyn then the Empire Classic. Makes a ton of sense. Barclay has also switched to his number 1 rider. The owners wanted to run at Saratoga and the Woodward was the only spot. They had their shot, now the trainer makes the calls.

How do you know there was no planning? The Empire Classic is the goal and this race sets him up perfectly for it. Didn't a horse from the Woodward win the stake yesterday at Belmont?

Where does that grade 1 race he got smoked in fit into their plans? Breaking his heart, exhausting him before his main goal, a 100,000 race? The owners have taken over the wheel, and undoubtedly they are drunk in the drivers seat

You are going to make a "plan" for a horse that would go: grade 1, grade 2, then statebred?

Or even grade 2 brooklyn and then statebred? Who preps horses like that? Maybe Tagg is using Wayne Lukas as his advisor these days.

That race was originally scheduled for last week. This is a perfect race for him. He runs 1-2 or 3 and he had a good race. He doesn't win an overnight and it is a failure. The extra few days rest help too.

I will tell you what worries me the most about Funny Cide.
Even when he was in bad racing form, he always zoomed in works, too damn fast, but he zoomed.
This last work well...... I don't see a work where the trainer wanted to have him retired afterwards as a good omen.
