Yes. I was a big Hoist The Flag fan. Followed all his offspring and was at Saratoga for her only win. She was properly named as her coat was orange.

Holy cow, you go aways back.

Hoist the Flag is a fascinating horse. I wish I'd seen him run. A brilliant and great runner who I think won five of six, and also a great sire, that died at an early age.

I recall his jockey, Cruget, once said that Hoist the Flag would have destroyed Seattle Slew.

Your correct. I was only 7 at the time, and I was just beginning to follow racing. My dad would go to OTB every Saturday (and I would tag along). He would play the late double and then watch the replay on on WOR (9). They would show the feature race and ninth.
