i don't care for them saying they won't issue drivers' licenses. reason being, you can't buy auto insurance if you haven't got a license. doesn't mean they can't buy a car, or drive it. so, how would you feel if you were in a wreck, the other driver is at fault-and they have no insurance?? and they don't have it, because they were kept from getting a license? and they may not be an actual citizen-but why would someone who is working and paying their taxes, and doing everything correctly be rightfully kept from getting a d.l.? i think there should be something in place that would allow them to get something that would allow them to drive legally while here. |

At what point do we hold the law breakers accountable? The parents knew the risk of deportation and yet they still broke the law by coming here and bringing their children. So now they get a buy to secure more votes when they are just people who have no regard for the law.

It's estimated that out of the 1.2 million children and young adults estimated to come forward and register in the deferred deportation system, only 800,000 will be eligible for the 2 year deferment. The rest will be deported as a result of their coming forward.

I know that illegals don't get to vote but by enacting this new policy it does secure more votes from people who support it

besides, you don't think obama only did this from the goodness of his heart? hell no. maybe get some votes, but far more importantly--$$ to the coffers. it's always, always about the money. also, this way when obama's fellow pols and rich buddies need domestic help...why, there it is. without them ever having to explain hiring someone who might not have been here 100% legally. |

PS - the cost of the program is zero - there is no income from it, it merely pays for itself. And it's estimated that 400,000 young people will apply for this 2-year-deportation deferment, but will turn out not eligible under the Obama program, and will end up deported. (estimate 1.2 million apply, 800,000 accepted meeting standards for program inclusion) The DREAM Act was supported by many a Republican, and John McCain - before Obama became president, of course. Then the anti-brown bigots took over the Republican party and hating brown people became all the rage. Literally - rage.

The Republicans in the House blocked any chance of DREAM Act passing. So Obama did an exectuive 2-year-deportation deferment for those that meet strict eligibility, gets these illegals "into the system". Romney won't do that. Yes, you bet my vote goes to Obama, not Romney, for doing something I WANT our Congress/executive branch to do. It polls as a very popular position among American citizens, GOP, Dem and Independent, btw. Politicians should do what we, the citizens, want done. As Obama did here. That's why we elect them.
