I stopped reading about halfway through. Just puts all parties in a bad light. Way too much passing blame. Nothing being done. Cries of urgency. New York isn't that far.
Kinda jaded with these type of hit pieces.

I am serious.
So she's neglecting horses and not paying bills. Multiple people have supposedly been conned. Multiple people have gone to multiple government agencies asking for help. Supposedly government can't do anything...there isn't a "crime". So knowing this and all of these so-called witnesses not one of them has the ability or knows anyone who can take these animals? I'm not sold. The mattress guy is no angel. All I'm seeing is a rich guy behind the scenes pushing this story. If I'm wrong on that so be it. But I wasn't born yesterday and it would be a miracle if he wasn't involved. If all of this is true then he should've lost his owners license in all states months ago. Not to mention the way he does "business" in the sport is deplorable. I want all sides of the story.

You make that sound like no big deal. I really dont care who is doing what from the government, some people are doing something very wrong and I think there is enough reporting to know who is at the head of the pack, how deep the accomplices go is just obscuring a rather simple point, the severe neglect of these horses.

The horses have been taken care of since authorities came on the scene earlier this month...not all of these horses belonged to Borel or her father, if any.. "Owners of horses on the Mercer County property will need to present proof of ownership to law enforcement before they will be allowed to take custody of the animals, as county officials “don't want to drop the ball on culpability” in the case. The remaining animals, whose ownership may be unknown, could be declared “abandoned” by the county attorney, at which point they could be seized. Ford said he has already been contacted by several facilities interested in housing and rehabilitating however many are left." "It is “not unusual” for horses to remain in place during a cruelty investigation, according to Ford, as moving them may prove dangerous or stressful to horses in fragile condition. Often, law enforcement works to improve conditions for them on-site instead. In this case though, he said it's clear that the horses in poor condition need more advanced care than what they can receive at the farm."

And the investigative journalist might be the sweetest and most honest human on the planet but the fact remains her last name is RANSOM. And this is a flat-out ransom on a young woman's character and no new hit pieces on the despicable owner who was so greedy he had his lawyers write up contracts to take trainers purses and remove all liability from the one enabling her to continue. I mean if we can't get assholes like that out of the sport punishing this young lady isn't going to solve a thing.

I just skimmed over a few articles and accompanying comments about this "TMZ piece".
Before it's said and done there will probably be protests in Frankfort placing blame squarely on the governor's feet. Even though he's new and the state has far bigger problems than animal cruelty. It's just hard to believe a traditionally hard blue state government never got sufficient animal cruelty laws passed. I guess it's that damned tea party's fault.

>>>Officials with the Kentucky Department of Agriculture June 29 charged Chuck Borell, the father of trainer Maria Borell, with 43 counts of second-degree cruelty to animals in connection with the apparent abandonment of horses at a 121-acre farm in Central Kentucky.<<<

If Borell has the money to fight it this could go on for years.

Regarding the BH piece: typical, Maria's playing hide and go seek. She likes to be hard to find when people wanna pin her down on this stuff. The comments section got shut down on that one because people were being 'uncivil.' Not sure what they could've been saying that wasn't earned by the Borells. I guess BH doesn't wanna get sued so they don't let rants go on too much before just calling it a day. I find it hard to believe anybody was defending her. Did anybody get a look at them before they went away? |

Updated, she also faces 43 charges. They are trying to locate her so she can be taken into custody

If we gave people proper punishment over half the country would be in prison. The comments were probably closed due to multiple wishes of death. A lot of Americans value the lives of pets more than they do humans. And I don't give a s.hit if people agree with me or not. The Borells will be punished and the bigger "predators" will still be buying horses and having their uncles, cousins, skeeter down the holler, etc train their horses.

I don't place animals above people in general, though admittedly I find some people FAR less viable, however, people that make money off the backs of these animals and can lay their heads down at night with no remorse, knowing they are starving to death, well, there isn't a punishment too severe in my mind. I too have horses , and after my mortgage , the next bill is sufficient hay and supplements for all my horses to last till the next pay period, I'd rather I snack on Top Ramen then my horses go hungry, they depend on me. These people won a lot of money off these horses, it's simply deplorable, they should have given these horses away before they became like Silver Cliff, these people are vile , disgusting people. I hope they get banned from racing.

At least that's the way it was before central heating and air. 3 out of 43 horses were emaciated. 10 were underweight. Their defense will be heat/humidity for the 10 who were underweight and prior health problems for the 3 who were emaciated. They'll probably use the excuse that the medication/treatment for the 3 was too costly (and for most people it is). The economy is in the tank, folks. Even the farm the horses were on is for sale for a measly $500,000. Banks are hoarding cash. Loans are hard to come by. The punishment will more than likely be lenient. The story, although horrible, doesn't hide the fact only 3 out of 43 were in true danger.
