Jump Start is literally the kindest stallion I've ever been around, and one of the largest. He'll get you if you're not paying attention simply because he can, but you can play with him without ever worrying that he'll lay his ears back and bite you from pure spite. I'm happy Jump Start is doing so well, really. |

![]() He's been unbelievable .........if only he could get that first stakes winner, though. Still, 20 winners...........and he's gone unnoticed, for the most part. He's done way better than I ever thought he would, certainly as a sire of juveniles.

I remember seeing him as a baby at the Spa- he looked like a stallion even then, the spitting image of Storm Cat. |

![]() The fact is that with Gone West, Storm Cat and AP Indy all carrying Secretariat blood (through the female side) there is bound to be alot of "Sec. inbreeding."
Jump Start was a steal. He suffered a catastrophic injury which could have been fatal. He may have been one of the best of his crop but we'll never know. His first crop has 18 winners, conceived for $5k each to mares of moderate quality. His babies should stretch out well and are winning on all surfaces. Anyone who got in withhim early should be dancing for joy. Remember, many of those wins are coming at A league tracks like SAR, BEL and CD. That's not easy. |

![]() And they were also selling quite well... he's been a blessing for a lot of small breeders.

If he was bred to any great mares I sure haven't seen them. As a matter of fact most of the winners hes had come out of mares I never even heard of. They all seem to be hard knocking, and they love two turns. The best is yet to come from him. |

I like you. At times you give good insights. So does Sumitas. He speaks for himself. I just wish you two wouldn't "dig in your heels". Sumitas's mare is bred to Desert Warrior. It took him lots of thought to come up with this. No need to disrespect his choice, even though it might not agree with yours. Heck, if I could afford to ship one of mine to Jump Start, I certainly would. As of now, I'll take what I've got. Peace brothers. DTS |

But I don't see how bashing a success story sire figures into this. Noone was knocking Desert Warrior, and I can't see why he would knock Jump Start. |

![]() I remember having a dream about the BC Juvy the night before Jump Start ran in that race. In my dream he won, but in reality it did not work out for him. He was pushed by D. Wayne and sometimes that backfires. I am thrilled to see him "winning" at stud and I am certainly thrilled to see another son of Slew's best son at stud succeeding.

His debut at CD was as fine a debut as you will ever see, and at saratoga in the Special that he won, he banged into the gate real hard coming out and somehow got up anyway. Of all the horses D Wayne pushed into the ground, I bet if you asked him if he could have one "do over", who would it be, he'd say Jump Start. |
