I don't think anyone added Tropic Gem (Emerald, last month...)

http://www.pedigreequery.com/tropic+gem

* * *

I was asked to add The Toe, (I had never heard of him, and...) I can't find much about him.

He was a 7 year old gelding and was last or almost always last..... (10th of 10th, 11th of 11th, 12th of 13th, 13th of 14th in his last 4 races. I can't really find anything more).

http://horseform.racingandsports.com...137593D55E8D22

Anyway he collapsed and died after that last race..... need to add him here.

If Magic, ed or Moodwalker know anything more hope they'll add it in.

Rest in peace.

Sorry.

I wrote out a really long post and decided not to include it.

Look at it this way... it's one last little celebration of their lives, one last little show of appreciation and respect.

It can be a little hard when someone asks me to include a particular horse here.... if I've never heard of them.

I never do mind. People have reasons why they don't want to post it (I guess). I'm just doing the best i can (that sounds fake and horrible. What i mean is they all deserve their names here, to be remembered that one last time. I try to remember to post those names when I come across them or when someone asks me to).

So even the ones who, in life, we didn't know? It's nice to stop for a second and know that they existed anyway and that they were part of this thing we all love.

Angels all.

Accident Kills Hussler's Conqueror
By Peter Staples

Wednesday, 8 October 2008: Talented Victorian mare Aceland Street, who once beat Horse of the Year Weekend Hussler, has died after a paddock accident while spelling in Victoria.

The mare had to be put down after she impaled herself on a wooden fence post.

“We are devastated about what has happened to the mare,” said her Tasmanian owner Alwyn Shaw.

“It is very sad to lose any horse but especially so when it as a result of such a freak accident.

“The loss is double-edged because we were looking to a prosperous stud career for Aceland Street.”

Aceland Street was trained at Caulfield by Jim Mason and had won three of her 13 starts.

She will be well remembered for her maiden win at Sale as Weekend Hussler finished fourth in the event when making his debut.

Aceland Street was expected to be one of Shaw's foundation mares at his Aceland Stud at in Tasmania.

A shoulder injury will prevent jockey Jodi Snell from representing Tasmania in the Dr le Winns Ladies Championship at Moonee Valley on Friday night.

Snell, who won the annual race last year, dislocated her shoulder when she was thrown from an unraced two-year-old at John Blacker's stable last Friday.

She was hoping physiotherapy would enable her to ride at Moonee Valley but she has been ruled out on medical advice.

“The doctors have advised me not to resume riding for a month because it will pop back out again if I try riding,” Snell said.

I'll never spell anything near a wooden fence post, that's for sure.

More on Oriental Tiger, from Racing Post...

Oriental Tiger found dead in stable

David Conolly-Smith

THE story of Oriental Tiger, the ill-starred German five-year-old who lost a Group 1 win earlier this year after a positive test, reached a tragic climax this week when he was found dead in his box at Mulheim.

An autopsy revealed that the son of Tiger Hill, who won two other Group races at Cologne, had broken a pelvis and died of internal bleeding.

Trainer Uwe Ostmann said: "It's a tragedy and a very sad day for our whole stable."

Oriental Tiger was always a headstrong and difficult character and had tried to run out on several occasions.

He finished third to Schiaparelli in the 2006 Deutsches Derby but his record before this year was one win in 11 appearances.
He began this season with Group 3 and Group 2 wins in April but then ran a poor fifth behind It's Gino at Baden-Baden.

After a break of almost three months, he returned with an astounding performance in the Group 1 Rheinland-Pokal on August 17, when he made all the running and was 15 lengths clear at halfway and came home seven lengths and half a length in front of Kamsin and Papal Bull.

Little more than two weekslater it was announced that he had tested positive for dexamethasone and he was disqualified.

He was being treated - not for the first time - for a skin allergy. The injections contained cortisone and it had not cleared his system in time.

How sad ....
I remember having an argument with someone somewhere in forum land that said horses do not just get injured in their stalls ...
Several other people jumped in and could not fathom a horse self-destructing in its house ...
They do ...

His name was Box Wallah and he won the 14:10 at kelso last week.

http://guardian.sportinglife.com/GU_...283684,00.html

A 5 year old gelding, this was his very first win.

They don't bother mentioning it on the chart but he was euthanized after the race.

Jump in peace.
