Last I saw him, he was riding at Northern Cal for some of the south cal trainers, but that was a while ago...

I know he had a falling out after Invasor, but I haven't heard his name come up anywhere for the longest time.

I believe Jara was not getting alot of mounts in Cali and returned to Central or South America to ride. I do not know how accurate this info is because I don't recall where I heard it.

The Stymie is a good example of insane early tactics. I remember very well changing my video feed over to Aqueduct just in time to catch what looked like a final stretch duel to the finish wire. When they continued on to the turn and I realized what I had just witnessed was the initial quarter mile, I was dumbfounded.

And thanks for the interesting thread.
Agreed. I'll take a bum like him any day of the week.

Yeah, I think it was in the World Cup. Sheikh Hamdan wasn't happy that he got cute and started looking back for Discreet Cat when he hadn't yet put Premium Tap away.

I don't know - but if it wasn't for McLaughlin - he'd have still been a nobuddy in my opinion.

They say a great owner can turn an unqualified hotwalker into a top trainer - well a great trainer can take a very moderate jockey a long way as evidence by McLaughlin and Jara.

It seems like KMc goes through young jockeys pretty fast. First Jara, then Garcia, now Maragh.

With whatever he is giving them these days, his horses could carry my 210 lbs of love to victory.

It seems like Maragh has been getting more and more mounts from him lately and Garcia less from what I've seen. I haven't had time to follow things every day, though, so I could be wrong. . .

As you can see...intense looks being exchanged....

After all of that - Sun King had every reason to mop him up - he didn't.

In my opinion, Sun King and his fans are bums.
ror!

Really great stuff in this thread, thanks Druggie-poos
