Isn't that what we're talking about in this thread? A filly in the Derby? You brought two fillies into the picture that aren't even being pointed to the Derby. What did you think I was talking about?

i was just saying that my opinion is if.....high heels isent a top 5 three yr old filly then why run her in the derby vs the boys where she wont get that dream setup that she got last time out, like others have said on here she would be hard pressed to be competitive in the oaks.

I think that she has the better profile for the Derby than the previous two fillies you mentioned. It's not like we've got a real strong group of colts this year, PG. Why not take the shot?

What about her trip will be different than last time, outside of more traffic for a late run?

Are you talking about the fast pace she got that played right into her style?

You're right, she'd never get that in the Derby. What was I thinking?!

why take it ? the group is not very strong but its deep, im sure you could name 10 colts that have alot better chance then her, why risk ruining a nice filly because the connections have derby fever ?

the traffic is the biggest thing yes, but where is all the speed coming from in the derby this year ? there is not much speed, and the boys in front of her wont be quiting like they did at oaklawn, they go 22 and change early the 2 bombs who go that fast and are close to the pace finish last and third to last, even cotton blossom the heavy favorite who was close to the pace was empty and had nothing for high heels when she went by.

I'm as big a fan as any of Cotton Blossom, but watch the replay of that race and tell me that High Heels wasn't really digging in her 'heels.' She may have got a great setup, but she was much the best there and is worthy of her win.

Actually I was implying that her running in the Derby based upon a 95 Beyer is sheer folly. Not only is she not close to being good enough she is also not especially bred to be effective at a mile and a quarter. Only superior filly's like Winning Colors should be considered for the Derby. Isn't it bad enough that we have mediocre colts taking up spaces in the field?

i did watch the replay and i have the chart in my hand.....the horses who were on or near the early pace quit they finished 6,7,8, out of 8, the other horse near the lead was cotton blossom and she had nothing for the winner the winner blew by, i am impressed with the winner shes a nice horse and i love e dubais, but i dont think she'd have a shot in the derby.

And the 1,2,3 horses early on in the Derby last year finished 16,19,20 in a field of 20.

She's not your winner, but if Teuflesburg can have a spot in the gate, why can't she?

Teuflesburg will be hard pressed to have enough earning to get in, not that he has any business in there....and he is probably 5 lengths better than High Heels

The average winning Beyer (or "par figure") for the Derby is something like 110 or 111.

Even in the most sub-par of years, it will take more than that to win the race. And, in her most recent race, she parlayed a fairly nice trip into a career best performance....I agree...she belongs in the Oaks. Obviously.

I can see High Heels running out of the money in The Gardenia at Ellis Park. In fact, that'll probably be her comeback race if she runs in the derby.

I love it when all these small timers win a race. They all think they have the next Ruffian. She likes Oaklawn.... she couldn't even win @ the FG against her own. Please...
