Well that was 20 horses...and 96 dollars Hoss..But you are right..prob. a little bitter, but I'm more willing to shake the hand of a guy who can give me a 12/1 shot.Example...hooves...steve....etc...anyone can give out chalk on a chalky day. Think about it.

Serling told me a great story when I went downstairs to visit him at Saratoga last year---he was at a table with a son of W. T. Young, Steve Crist, and some other influential breeding person...

Anyway, they start talking about Flower Alley, and I guess Andy didn't know off the top of his head that Distorted Humor was FA's sire.

Anyway, so they start talking about Distorted Humor, and Andy recalls a time he caught him to win (down at GP I believe) and he paid $36 for the win. So, W. T. Young's son says something like "wait, so everyone remembers this horse for all the good foals he's sired....and you remember him because he won you $36?" Andy says "No....it was actually $8.20...I bet him to show."

Obviously I made a little more than $22 on this race....I bet that exacta backwheel about as heavily as I've bet an exacta backwheel in as long as I can remember.

But yeah---if I got loud and annoying for a week or two before this race--I'm sorry....but I really, really, really was obsessed with this race. Complete obsession.

I had Curlin today, but he won't be my Belmont pick.

Good call DrugS. My hubby is pissed at me because I didn't make him go bet today. He actually called me during my riding lesson to yell at me because I picked the tri and he was mad. (He saw my notes on our desk after the race.) He left me quite a voice mail.

If I'm the guy your talking about...I did SAY that it was a triple box of the three Derby finishers (see the earlier post here)
Chalk or not, it WAS a very good week DaHoss! Had $50 in my phone-a-bet a week ago...it NOW stands at $600!!!
Congrats to ALL that cashed today! How did you do????

Like I said though, no self-respecting bettor could possibly play Street Sense off the kind of trips he's built his mighty repute with.

My entire betting strategy focuses on my steadfast opinion that Street Sense hangs through the final 1/8th, and finishes underneath, and that only another act-of-god trip prevents that from happening.

I have long distained Circular Quay---Hard Spun and Curlin are the two remaining horses in the race who aren't complete and utter dog biscuits.

So, for the record, it's Curlin for me---but, from a betting standpoint, I will try to lock up 8/1 odds on a Curlin/HS over SS exacta.
Good call, but did you bet him? He wasn't 4-1...

I did not have a win bet on him.

Street Sense was a mortal lock to run underneath if Curlin won, and far far more likely for 2nd than 3rd place...because of pace scenerios...so I just tried to better my odds a little.

I was hoping Curlin would have the seperation on Street Sense so he didn't get drowned by his move....honestly, even though I was convinced SS would hang...I was never a confident man when he blew by Curlin...and I only didn't think I could win until the 1/16th pole...at that point I thought I'd probably nab him.

In the end, there was no way Street Sense wasn't running 1-2. Since your strong opinion was the Street Sense was a bad bet on top, the best bet was to play him underneath the only two with a chance to beat him. You did just that. Congrats. I see no reason for any of the bashing here.

No kidding. It's not possible to be more right about a race than TIDS was here. Some people cannot stand someone else being correct whether it's at their own expense or not.

The point that you seem to be missing, is that nobody who likes Street Sense was enjoying the way Drugs was presenting his position, but the fact remains that no one person can lay out (in advance) how a race will be run and be any more right than he was.

I don't like Drugs all the time, but give credit where credit is due. Picking winners is picking winners, whether they are 2-5 or 80-1. Not only did he flat out say that he knew Street Sense would finish second, but he explained exactly how it was going to happen, with Street Sense relinquishing the lead late to one of two horses. One cannot be much more prophetic about how a race is going to unfold, and one cannot be more adamant that they are going to be right.

While you may not have taken a liking to the way Drugs presented this information in advance (and I didn't either, to boot, and also thought he was flat out wrong), there is little doubt that he saw this coming.

The prices of the horses doesn't matter, he laid out the race scenario and it unfolded exactly like he thought it would. What's so hard about swalling some pride and just saying "good call" instead of moaning about the exotics payouts? I'm less concerned with how much money he made in congratulating him than I am with how spot-on he was with his analysis.

You have a problem with Fort Plain in general. We've tried to form a connection with you but you have serious issues with us. It's nice to have friends. I wouldn't trade those guys and the rest of our buddies who are not members of this board. It sure beats going to an OTB by yourself. So reach up your as s and take the bug out or just don't pay attention to me or any of us. Me personally would not go the the Pro wrestling thing, but knock a guy for doing something he enjoys? Wow..that's low...real low. I really hope you are not bitter in person.
ROFL. That's gangsta.

You can't make this sh.it up.

Fair enough Brian. I did apologize for calling him a blowhard. Maybe as Hoss said it was a few too many cocktails. It is how he laid it out. Kudos to him and anyone else that had a good day.

I have no problem with Fort Plain, although that is probably the funniest thing you wrote. I don't even know where Fort Plain is. Look, this is gotten way over the top. I think it's best we just ignore each other.

And I am this bitter in real life.
Fair enough. I would like to meet you...not to fight. Maybe have a cold one and hit a pick-3. I really hope you are not this bitter, but c'mon that was a low blow to Hoffy. You can bash me all you want, but You'd be hard pressed to find a nicer guy than hoffy. How can you not lie a guy who drinks Miller beer?

In high school I once waited seven hours at a Target to meet Christina Aguilera. We had waited since early morning and then we were finally getting around the corner where we would be able to see her for the first time at which point we would be about five minutes from meeting her.

Lo and behold, some idiot threw a shoe at her and a riot broke out because people who got there late and weren't going to meet her got mad. Nothing like a Target in Schaumburg, IL to make the national news.
