YOu make good points...the only thing I disagree with is that they are actually a pretty good rebounding team overall. LeBron is trapped pretty much...they have no shooters. Even their supposed good shooters aren't good (Pavlovic, Marshall, Jones, Gibson). They are a poor shooting team from the field and the foul line. I think Brown has done a wonderful coaching job with them, strengthening their defense considerably, which when you have a team that can't shoot is a wise thing to do in my opinion. I do think they have the athletes to run a bit more (James, Pavlovic, Hughes) but again, you can't have everything. People act like it's easy to do things against Detroit on this forum and it really isn't. They have had two legit shots to win games in Detroit which is pretty good. (for game winning or potential game winning shots the shots from Marshall in game 1 and Hughes in game 2 are about as good a shots as you are going to get against Detroit). Detroit is actually a better road team than home team, so it isn't going to get any easier for Cleveland. This series could be 4 games or 7 games. Tough to say.

But the Cavs dont have a single frontline player that you want to see with the ball in that situation. Lebron strength is moving with the ball toward the hoop, using his strength and size to overpower defenders. He is not that strong coming off of picks. Plus Detroit would almost certainly switch on the pick and try to deny the ball to Lebron. Which would leave the ball in the very shaky hands of Hughes, Snow, or Pavolich. Which would have been a poor decision by Brown.
Hamilton actually played great d on the play, being physical enough to disrupt the flow without drawing the foul.

There was no excuse for Hughes missing the follow up.
I think Ilgauskas is a guy you could do that stuff with...but he was on the bench becuase Verajao got minutes with his play.

Now they were out of timeouts, another mistake, but on the road in the playoffs, down 1-0, IMO you try and lengthen the game, not shorten it if you are down.
The Cavs got a shot from LeBron, a wide open 8 footer from Hughes, and a tip attempt from Verajao on that possession. What on earth more could you ask for??/ If Detroit gets the rebound there are 6 seconds left, and a quick foul and they do get a second possession. AFter 2 shots...a tip in and a Detroit rebound there were still close to 2 seconds left in the game when the foul was committed. The TNT guys are clueless and clueless at times. They are flat out wrong analyzing the last possession.

The shots they got were much better than if they throw the ball in and whip up a wild 3 pointer in 2 seconds just to lengthen the game.

Silly, silly man. Before LeBron got to Cleveland the team hadn't had a 30 win season in over 3 years. The team was 15-67 the season before LeBron got there. In two years he had them over .500. They have won 3 playoff series in the last 2 years after having not won one since 1993. They have back to back 50 win seasons for only the second time in close to 40 years in existence.

HE hit not one, but two game winning shots in the playoffs last year. At age 22, LeBron has 15 playoff wins...I think at that age, Bird and Jordan had a total of zero combined.

Why bother with facts when making things up is so much better!!!

I've had about enough of you.

Yessireebob-o......they went 16-67 and then James came and with EXACTLY the same team members he immediately turned them around to where they are now.

It's just incredible what that one player addition has done.

Do you all were spahgetti bibs when you write this garbage?

Trained seals could do better.

Trained seals HAVE done better.

Another "witness."

You are zero competition for me. absolute zero. nada. You're right. McCinnis, Snow, POllard and Newble are mostly responsible for the improvement.

mortimer, considering you will never know as much as I do about anything, your discussion of Cavs history with me is pretty much insipid. sit silently and listen to the master.

Hes hands down the worst coach in the league.

Leaves no time on the clock to foul or get the ball back if they miss. They run down the last 14 seconds with Lebron at the top of the key taking a shot into a triple team. They did a hell of a job drawing that one up, that used to be my favorite shot on the playground.

They could have hired Van Gundy but I dont think they thought he would "jive" with the young, hip, Lebron. Instead they hire Brown who is a complete buffoon. Really miss Lenny Wilkins

Listen "witness"....and listen well.

The only guy from that team is the guy that basicly didn't play for 3 years....Z "the Bionic Footman" Ilg.

And James didn't change anything that first year...they were playing just as bad until they made the Boston trade.

The next year they got AndyV. and Gooden. They alos got Sasha P. and Hughes.

Now you tell me that Ricky Davis and the other formidable dregs they had in that 15-67 year stay with James and that they would even be a .500 team now.

I think you're the one who leaves a few facts out.

False and false. REad my other post on the subject...they, miss, Hughes gets the rebound, they put up another shot...put up a tip in, Detroit gets the rebound and they foul and there is still close to 2 seconds. If Detroit rebounds James' miss, there is plenty of time to get another possession.

the reason they didn't have any time is because they kept getting offensive rebounds. I'm not sure that is a bad thing or is it??? Silly , silly people.

The play with Lebron at the top of the key was drawn up like they had the lead, or it was a tie. You dont close out a game like that, no outs at all. Any fool knows you dont run down a clock and hope for a mircale

Say whatever you want. LeBron James is the person most responsible for the turnaround of the franchise...not Anderson Verajao, Sasha Pavlovic, Eric Snow, Drew Gooden, Larry Hughes. LeBron James is the catalyst for the improvement of the franchise, end of story. You can keep slobbering about the subject and think something else is driving it, but that would just be slobbering as I said.

Standing there and taking the ball 1 on all is garbage.......Lebron is a very limited basketball player with physical skills that compensate for his flaws.
And yes, when Larry Hughes left town in DC the fans quickly got over it. Another millionaire who lost his hunger when they got the contract.
The RULES have changed since the aforementioned. You had to play man up in the Magic/Bird era. Riley got wise and played a semizone causing a technical if one was not close enough to his man. This was very hard to interpret, went thru some changes so now we have a game where a team CAN PLAY ZONE. They just cant stay in the lane 3 seconds. This has changed the way the game is played compared to the 80's a great deal.

We really must understand this (Hubie Brown). So what I believe we have seen is 3 point shooters become more valuable to crack a zone apart. And defense requires more mobile big men. A big shot blocker cannot just stand in the lane on defense anymore. imo, a player like Jason Kapono is in the league for one reason. And there are some very poor basketball talented yet mobile big men, close to my heart here would be Fransisco Elson.
