Golfers are not athletes. Some golfers are "athletic" but being a great golfer and being a great athlete both are simply not a requirement or even close. Reminds of way back when, when Chris Patton won the US Amateur at about 350 lbs. Tank like major winners include Daly, Zoeller, Stadler, Floyd, Cabrera, Beem, Mickelson (not the most svelte man on the planet), Woosnam, etc.
Golfers are highly skilled but not athletes. When body shapes like Daly, Cabrera, Stadler on any given day can be the best in the world...it is simply not an athletic contest. One of the most comical and also saddest things I ever saw at the same time were many of these clowns politicking to keep Casey Martin off the tour....acting like walking 18 holes not even carrying your own sticks was some sort of huge athletic triumph.
