Exactly, it is like Wiggins running at Fairmount.

Well, not really, but I understand your point

The Mass Cap is actually $500K this year but is ungraded. Being a few weeks before the Breeders Cup it may not attract anyone no matter what the purse

Other than the Mass Cap the racing at Suffolk is not much better than at Finger Lakes
I wouldnt be surprised to see Funny Cide at this years Mass Cap, provided it doesn't turn up tough, like it did in the 90's with Cigar et al...as mentioned above, the added "bonus" money still may not attract anyone, unless they are looking for a paid public work out.

The Mass Cap figures to turn up Funny Cide, Perfect Drift, Evening Attire, Sweetnorthernsaint, Wilko, maybe some more of those types.

Anyways, I have mixed feelings re: FC in the Wadsworth. Anyone who knows me on this board has seen my older rants that Sackatoga should show some sack and just retire the old boy. I haven't changed my stance on that. They have made their investment how many times over and they owe it to the animal to let him walk off gracefully. However, as time goes on, I wonder if they believe that the horse even wants to move on? I just don't think that they are all that naive and couldnt see it or that maybe Tagg wouldnt just come out and say that the horse doesnt want to put the bridle on anymore.

The whole situation to me is odd. I have trouble deciding whether the owners just are foolish and naive and dont see that the horse isnt competitive in *most* spots, and let Tagg find the best spot he can, or they just dont know what else to do with Funny Cide. So, they just run him.

I wish I knew, because personally, I think the horse gave alot to the game and even more to his connections, and it's time to thank the horse for that and just turn him out on retirement for good.

last race for Accountforthegold, the Gander S., he racked up a 109 bris. Flashy Bull posted a 107 bris in the Stephen Foster.

It's no different than Evening Attire running at 9. FC and EA finished right next to each other in the Wagon Limit.

I think he'd be bored in retirement.

I was wondering where Accountforthegold, Evening Attire, Organizer, Carminooch, and all his usual competition was lol

Perfect Drift and Funny Cide would make good life partners. They could share the same stall, have a wedding and the owners could sell the story to Extra! or Access Hollywood.

I can't imagine a horse could do that for 15 years (I'm assuming that's how much longer he'll live) and not get bored. If he's healthy, 1 or 2 more racing years against NY competition won't hurt.

As his swan song they should enter him in a $10K claimer and let him crush the field (hopefully he still could).

So in other words, no gelding should ever be retired, because they might get bored by 15 years on the farm as opposed to 13-14 years on the farm, which apparently will be a blast.

Default Funnycide

I hope the ole boy can run a good one even if at FL. Regardless of his record and "hand full" personality , showed us great courage. As players ....that's what we want.
He was born down the street not far from a very close friend of mine who resides on Saratoga Lake, NY. I know my friend and his horse racing TV family will watch him go. Happy 4th to all.

Funny Cide wins by 2 lengths. Time was kind of slow 1:51.77. Then again, I'm unfamiliar with how fast or slow FL plays. Johnny Bye Night second.

My guess is probably not too bad a time. Looked like a very wet day up there and the track was sealed. I don't understand the neurotic attitudes toward Funny Cide and Sackatoga. He finished in between Malibu Moonshine and Evening Attire his last out and those two battled to get on the board in the grade 1 Suburban. IF he runs in the Suburban, he probably gets on the board. Sackatoga is racing their racehorse. Wow...imagine that. If I'm not mistaken he ran close to a 100 Beyer in the King's Point. Hate to say it but in today's game that can compete in a lot of graded stakes out there.

He's still a good horse...of course my definition of a good horse may be different than others.
