Good Luck to everyone involved today. I hope to see that whole motley crew getting their picture taken after todays race. May KnS run well today and come home safely!

Pretty lowkey day, it was Tuesday. Those in attendance:

Bigsmc
31lengths + GIDDYAP (Leo's Mom) & Dad
AeWingnut
57Rick and GF
Heels1999 (not sure on that number Dave, but I think I'm close.).
Rudeboyelvis + Mom & Dad
Cannon Shell
Stickney Bob (friend of mine, not a DT member..don't know if he even owns a computer) & Wife.

Chamber of Commerce weather, but the turf was still quite soft as evidenced by the very slow times of the races.

KNS was on her toes and tough to handle, just as she was in her first outing for DT. She came over to the paddock already blinkered as they were quite difficult to put on after saddling in her first race. TC and Socks got that part out of the way at the barn. She didn't go crazy during saddling, but she was a handful. Chuck held on to her while TC gave the saddling a try. She had Socks pretty well worn out from the walk over. Even getting Rosemary up was a bit of a challenge as Chuck was walking her to keep her calm while TC and Rosie tried to keep up. Once she hit the track she remained on her toes, but in a good way. She came back from the race looking good and bounced back to the barn.

I think most did okay at the windows. Wingnut hit the tri in the first race. Heels and myself hit the dd. Nobody had Later Gator ($36) later in the card. The rest of the day was single digit payouts for the winners so it was tough sledding trying to turn a profit.

A good time was had by all. Slightly disappointing, but promising as we know we have a hard trying mare.

i saw how light on her feet she was in the post parade. then a scary moment in the gate, but she looked good. glad she came out well.

As they were loading the last horse she was ready to go and threw her head around and back a bit, but then steadied, looked forward, held still, and got a good start.

Bigs, thanks for the day report - sounds like you guys hit some good payoffs early!

I rewatched the race replay today and saw something I didn't see yesterday (it's just too much fun - it's free on tampabaydowns.com)

When the 10 started the big sweep from the back around the field on the turn, as 10 got level with 7, 7 moved out and went with the 10, and Rosie moved immediately, too - they hit the turn three-wide and even from the outside-in 10-7-6.

And then that's when 10 came in on 7, 7 in on KNS, 7 was squeezed backed out, KNS tried to go with 10 but they were then right on 3's heels and she couldn't get between 10 and 3 - 10 went on, Rosie had to pull out and wheel around 10's heels to be clear.

Ah, "turf racing luck"! If KNS had been able to stay head to head with the 10 at the head of the stretch and not have been pushed in, as she'd been with 10 all around the turn?

the head-on view of the gate was ugly. KNS had the asst. starter trapped in the gate.

i watched the replay at the OTB yesterday and didn't watch it again until today. rosie did a better job than i first thought. we had bad "racin luck" again yesterday.

Agree, think the strategy is to draw outside , stay outside & then she can uncork that huge kick.

yes it was...jsut saw 31's question (sorry, i wasn't ignoring you!) and then your reply. a couple of horses acted up just a bit. of course there has been a lot worse-but never with a horse i had a vested interest in!

from the turn to the end, one heck of a race. kickin showed she's a fighter. never threw in the towel.
