The fact he doesn't go to church anymore doesn't bother me either, however him saying he would be a disruption is a 'dog ate my homework' excuse.

Obama has mastered straddling the fence. He is religious, prays everyday, but has no church affiliation. He believes marriage is between a man and woman and doesn’t care what gay people do in the bedroom. The White Sox are his favorite team but the Cubs are his favorite player. He’s a lawyer who’s never tried a case. A State senator who rarely gave a vote and a brother/nephew to a brother/aunt who he doesn’t even know.

my post was in response to your statement that dems are all in favor, and reps are all not, regarding gay marriage, etc etc.
Ah. ?? Didn't say that. Didn't mean that. I was talking about general party platform characteristics of the parties:

"That's the difference between Democrats, who honor and respect the freedom of others to do differently than themselves; and Republicans, who do not."

That's a silly thing to say. It's very easy to know exactly what is going on in Madison, and in depth: read the Wisconsin newspaper pages, read the news webpages with live video, live Twitter feeds, live updates, etc.

Oh. You fooled me by your two years of unending, detailed attention and interest, and wild speculations, regarding Obama's private religious habits

You would indeed know what was going on in the middle east if you followed the Facebook-Twitter-internet postings to news pages from inside Egypt, etc. It's one global world now, Dell. Everyone's connected.

Indefensible
Why the Obama administration changed its mind about the Defense of Marriage Act.
By Dahlia Lithwick
Posted Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011, at 6:50 PM ET

The real surprise on Wednesday wasn't that the Obama administration decided it could no longer legally defend the federal Defense of Marriage Act, which mandates that the federal government not recognize same-sex marriages and stipulates that states need not recognize same-sex marriages from other states. It's that it took so long to get here. Recall that presidential candidate Barack Obama pledged to repeal the law, which he had called "abhorrent," in 2007. What needed to be bridged over the past two years was the distance between the president's personal views and his duty to defend a congressional statute.

Zig: I never said any of that. What statement are you talking about? The only thing I've said is this:

Quote:
Obama has said he personally does not support gay marriage. To him, marriage is man-woman. Yet Obama supports the freedom of others to do what they wish And in fact, he is fighting for that very right for others.

That's the difference between Democrats, who honor and respect the freedom of others to do differently than themselves; and Republicans, who do not.
I don't think all Dems are in favor of gay marriage, and all GOP are not. That's crazy. And I never said such a thing

i inferred it from this, since this thread has been mostly about the that very subject. i guess you didn't mean it to be that far-reaching, so thanks for clarifying that.
