I stayed at the Ace in January. The rooms are nice enough, but in 22 degree weather, I couldn't believe just how many people were actually waiting to get into a lobby bar at 1:30 a.m.

1:30 am is about the time when the fun starts in Manhattan.

I get that, but the place is a funky lobby bar. It was just hard to believe that was where the cool kids were going these days.

Clear as mud.

Attempting to follow these directions should put me in Connecticut sometime around the 5th race.

I've been planning to go to Belmont on a Saturday over the next few weeks. I will be coming up by train from Maryland. Once I get to Grand Central Station or Penn Station, have to find out which, where do I go from there?

Thanks

The trains only run from Penn Station in Manhattan. If you come in at Grand Central take a cab, subway, or bus to Penn Station. The trains are the Long Island Rail Road and they have schedules, but I believe they call it the Belmont Special so it is easy to find it on the board.

Amtrak from MD... so he'll come into Penn Station. Nice and easy. Disregard my information as it is for Grand Central people

I guess the good news is if you go the wrong way on the 7 train is you are only going two stops

Transportation efficiency is a nervous tick for me. I hate wasting time by taking the longer route.

Greyhound has advance purchase round trip tickets from Baltimore to Port Authority Bus Terminal for 26 bucks. Departs at 7:36 am and arrives at 11:14.
You can't pay the tolls for that cost.

I'm old school. Phuck these places with 200 square foot rooms and the beds on the floor. I don't need to be in a bar, elbow to elbow, with a bunch of douche bags who lie about working at hedge funds. That's an old line that doesn't get em laid.

Refresh my memory - can clubhouse patrons still bring their own refreshments and food into the track?

Right, that I know. I remember lugging in a couple giant bottles of water in 2008, but couldn't remember whether that was still allowed and can't get on belmontstakes.com from work.
