my point being that no matter what obama does, it's wrong. when he bombed libya, it was wrong. now that he's not bombing russia, that's wrong.

Putin is trying to expand his reach by keeping Ukraine friendly to Russia, rather than them going into the sphere of the west. his move into crimea won't win him many friends in Ukraine, and will only cause them to cozy up to the west that much more. this will backfire on Putin.

and i have to say, all this bs from the repubs regarding how 'strong' putin is, and how 'weak' obama is, is one of the worst exhibitions of cognitive dissonance i have seen in quite some time.
and ffs, who came up with 'mom jeans' as a slur?

Fox heads have that covered...Stewart featured them last nite...His and Colbert's shows all week were spot on

If only the two would fight it out till the death and settle who's weak. Granted there is a 10 year age advantage v. Putin

Odds even?

The escalating standoff has seen Obama vow to impose travel bans and asset freeze on Russia officials held responsible for endangering the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

US officials have stressed that Putin himself is not on that list but also warn that Washington could pull out of a G8 summit the Russian leader is hosting in Sochi in June.

WTF

Hillary thinks Putin is following Hitler's plan while the administration leaves him off the list of those responsible.

Hearsay of hearsay. Understandable you don't want to post a link.

A book I read a few years back outlines Russia's invasion and the discussions following within the Bush administration and Cheney was a part of it. Think the title was A Little War that Shook the World or something like that.

BTW Russia's invasion of Crimea without bloodshed or violence was the direct opposite of what happened in Soviet Georgia probably because unlike the Crimean's, the Georgian's did not want the Russians.

I think we should go to war.

Otherwise our votes in 2 elections for a hardass will have gone to waste.

Americans knew in 2008 and 2012 we were voting for someone who wouldn't be a wretched softie like Bush.

We voted for someone who would stride pridefully across the globe flexing his muscles. Putin rides a grizzly bare chested. Obama must ride the eagle naked.

When you watch the brain-dead House Republicans vote week after week to repeal Obamacare, or the latest Tea Party nut job call President Obama a traitor, it’s hard to take Republicans seriously.

Some Sane Republicans can be found in zoos, but it's unusual to see one in the wild."

The lesson of that, I think, it was—it came at a time, sort of at the end of the Bush administration, the beginning of the Obama administration.
History revised? I think not....

But that's why I called BS.

What was Obama's reaction to the invasion, or was that when he was being awarded the nobel piece of shiat peace prize?

Let's use this as an example.

Surely we 'Americans' can agree that Senior Citizens pensions and deductions ie. Social Security should not be used to finance/back the Ukraine promise of a billion or anything other than SS?

So just dedicate all future SS deductions be used for nothing other than SS payments or the account. In other words put it in not a lock box but in another f'n account.

Must say the Obama promise of 'dire consequences' was swift...

Quote:
The Obama administration on Monday imposed a new round of sanctions on Russian officials, self-declared leaders in Crimea and others deemed responsible for the unrest and instability in Ukraine.

In an executive order, President Obama named seven Russian officials whose U.S. assets now will be frozen and “may not be transferred, paid, exported, withdrawn or otherwise dealt.” Others, including former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, also have been targeted.
Just imagine the sheer agony of waking up tomorrow morning and all your Russian assets are frozen and can't be transferred. You'd no longer be allowed to conduct transactions using the ruble and countries like China and N. Korea may not take your money either. Would you be able to live with that hanging over your head?

Quote:
The seven Russian officials — not including President Vladimir Putin or Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev — were targeted based on power in a new executive order signed by the president on Monday morning.
Huh? Professional courtesy? Or is Yelena Mizulina, State Duma deputy, dictating Putin's next move.

Quote:
While Mr. Obama spoke to Mr. Putin on the phone Sunday night and promised further costs if Russia doesn’t pull back, the Russian president is not among the 11 people named.
Let me guess. No more Disney comps?

Not unless the State Duma Secretary has some tickets she needs to scalp. If so you may have to pay in rubles until further notice. The travesties of war.

What we're doing to the list of eleven is almost inhumane.

Don't worry the freeze of all U.S. assets/transactions will work as soon as they try to access their Netflix and porn accounts.

Crimea’s actual conflict isn’t ethnic; it’s the split between the suspicious, fearful sovok, or Soviet, mentality and a new generation of free minds. It’s little surprise that tearing down statues of Vladimir Lenin, founder of the Soviet Union, has become so controversial.
This conflict is between the 20% Tatar community and the majority. The Tatars are muslims and to believe they represent a generation of free minds is both insane and insulting.

An example of 'Free Minds' at work "a husband can have sex with his wife regardless of her consent. The bill also prevents women from leaving the house without their husband's permission, would restrict women's rights in matters of parental custody after divorce and make it easier for men to take multiple wives."
