i was never too terribly big on rockport harbor. thought he would turn out not liking longer. i'm just really not a big fan of unbridled songs foals.

If Hard Spun can't get the 10f of the Derby or 12f of the Belmont, you can't blame his pedigree. His dam won a 12f turf stakes at Pimlico and HER dam was a winning half-sister to Preakness and Belmont winner Little Current. It is actually surprising that he has been so speedy at sprint distances; inherits that from dad, undoubtedly. Hope he goes on, like Chief's Crown, another fast Danzig 2yo who had a staying bottom line and excelled at 3 as well.

I don't think that Rockport Harbor is homely at all unless you are referring to his color. He's much better conformed than most TBs. He has a very attractive head and shoulder on him. His hip isn't perfect but it is better than most horses. He's got a nice rounder type back on him, a good column of bone, and clean legs. His neck is nice other than he could be a little bit clearner in the throatlatch area. I don't like the fact that his front hooves don't match in shape and size though. The one one the near side should look more like the one on the off side. It could be why they had so many problems with him. Overall, he's actually a much more attractive horse in the conformation department than his sire other than those front hooves.

I couldn't believe the price either. I don't know that much about breeding, but even I know that he probably should have started for less. He was a very useful and popular horse on the track though.
