How about Midnight lucky?
Quote:
How does Govenor Charlie get a bigger Beyer than the obviously more impressive and totally geared down Midnight Lucky? This might be the real problem with the new "Point" System. Does the filly get points only for the Oaks? She might be favored at this point against most of the male contenders. Does she go the route of Rachel Alexandra and dominate the Oaks then win the Preakness and Belmont? That would be a rip off!

Bejarans Ride
I thought Raphy's ride was as motionless as I have ever see!
Never touched her with the whip and was completly geared down the last 1/16 New track record!

Bejarano seemed to ask her a bit early in the stretch and then she was geared down. She's very, very good. But would you really want to bet her 6 weeks from now in a 20 horse field going 10 furlongs? |

No, Your are Correct
I just thought that this is a bias gaff in the point system
Just like to see if anybody thinks she is good enough to beat her male classmates

The only thing that I will say is that generally, that CD surface, plays alot like the Sunland track was on Oaks and Derby Day. Not necessarily speed favoring, but razor tight. |

Per Santa Anita Stable Notes, Demonic is possible for the Arkansas Derby or the Blue Grass.

Palace Malice may run in the Blue Grass. Pletcher sounded like it was a real possibility on TV immediately after the race, and Cot Cambell said the same thing as quoted in an article in the Augusta Chronicle:
"Not quite ready to concede that there is no Run for the Roses in Palace Malice’s future, Campbell noted, “If he comes out of this thing all right, we’d have to take a look at the Blue Grass (to be run three weeks hence at Keeneland). He deserves another chance.”" --Dunbar

What right thing? The horse was fine in the allowance comeback, and had a dreadful post/trip in the FL derby. What is exactly wrong with him that they couldn't regroup and take a look at either the Lexington or IL derby then Preakness? Or give him a few more weeks and maybe the Peter Pan / Belmont route?
To run twice since November, then say he's off the trail because "We're going to take our time with him" sounds all too familiar from that barn. That's all I meant. I would not be surprised if that was the last time we see the horse on the track. |
