I've said my angry rant. Now I need to find a way to understand the other perspective. I just don't know how
I didn't really think Coach or Tim are speaking from a racist perspective, so I apologize to each of you. I am reading editorials that do assert that many people, amny more than we might have thought, just can't get themselves to vote for a man whose skin color is black. I used the word dumb nigger, asserting Obama was not one. I understand black comediens who have used the term nigger in reference to a subset of the African-American population. Obama is not dumb, he isn't even a nigger in even the more racist comprehensive view of the word. He stands apart from the African-Americans(I term I do not like at all , am I then a Euro-American because my ancestors came from Ireland?). He's a true African-American, born of a Kenyan father and a white American mother. Raised in Hawaii and with a great, well rounded education, he is so unlike the rest of the black population in this country that even the ass Jesse Jackson had to cut him down. Despite being the most interesting candidate we've had since J.F.K., Obama still can't get support of the black politicians or the Clinton brigade |

One of my main problems with the Republicans is how much they bring religion into politics. I think seperation of church and state needs to be just that. Now I'm not registered as a Republican, I'm registered at a Independent. I just happen to like the Dems even less than the repubs. I may be a libertarian like the Coach. Its just a waste of a vote to vote for the independent candidate. I also happen to really like John McCain. I lived in Tucson, Arizona from 2001 through 2005 so I became very familier with him then, and agreed with his politics. ( I even sat NEXT to him on a flight from Phoenix to Dulles in DC - in coach too! he was reading a huge book from the Library of Congress, so I didnt bother him much) Its funny how back when I lived in Arizona John McCain was known as the man who steps over party lines and goes for what he believes is right.. not just what the Repubs think. For some reason, the message Barak Obama sends out about McCain is very different. I hate that politicians vote based on party line. There has to be a freaking correct answer out there. |

Here's the Gay Rights stances:
Barak Obama actually Opposes gay marriage.. but I agree with pretty much all he has to say about it: Being gay or lesbian is not a choice. (Nov 2007) Decisions about marriage should be left to the states. (Oct 2007) Homosexuality no more immoral than heterosexuality. (Oct 2007) Ok to expose 6-year-olds to gay couples; they know already. (Sep 2007) Has any marriage broken up because two gays hold hands? (Aug 2007) We need strong civil unions, not just weak civil unions. (Aug 2007) Legal rights for gays are conferred by state, not by church. (Aug 2007) Disentangle gay rights from the word "marriage". (Aug 2007) Gay marriage is less important that equal gay rights. (Aug 2007) Gay rights movement is somewhat like civil rights movement. (Aug 2007) Let each denominations decide on recognizing gay marriage. (Jul 2007) Supports health benefits for gay civil partners. (Oct 2006) Opposes gay marriage; supports civil union & gay equality. (Oct 2006) Marriage not a human right; non-discrimination is. (Oct 2004) Include sexual orientation in anti-discrimination laws. (Jul 1998) Now McCain OPPOSED the amendment to the Constitustion to ban same-sex unions. He called it "un-republican". I do like that about him. He feels that same-sex couples should be allowed to enter into legal agreements for insurance and other purposes, but he opposes gay marriage and believes in "the unique status of marriage between and man and a woman." He also thinks its a state issue to vote on gay marraige. Now I'm more with Obama on this issue, but McCain is not all that bad. He actually Doesnt hate me! Edit- McCain did vote NO on making crimes based on sexual orientation a hate crime. Which I dont get. How is it not a hate crime? |

Thanks, Tim, I can understand that.
Also, I liked McCain 8 years ago. Was the Dem candidate Gore? Was it that pathetic Gore -Lieberman ticket? |
