I'm not on welfare. In fact I'm working my ass off to pay my way through Law school.

But you put a pretty offensive label on a celebrating crowd, that I would have been a part of if I could, without having anything but the way they look to back it up.

ACORN, by law, cannot throw out such obvious fakes (legally no voter registration card can be unforwarded to the proper election officials by ACORN) - but they have labeled them as suspected fakes and then they forward them on to election officials as they are legally required to do.

The above has been repeatedly covered in the biased liberal media press.

Well i guess we better tell the state of Washington that.

What I think is the ironic part about people who defend the media as not having a liberal slant is they ignore the fact that many of the individuals who are part of that same liberal media are not afraid to say they are liberals and are damn proud of it.

You posted an article from July 2007. What was final outcome of the criminal charges on that? How many false votes were fraudulently cast from those false registrations?

No problem Ed. The only point I was trying to make is let's get abled bodied americans working again and off welfare. Good luck with law school I may need a good lawyer someday! Sorry for the confusion!

fpsoxfan, I think they have been tightening up on the welfare system, I may be wrong.
Many people like to throw welfare out as the big problem, I don't think it ias bad as the SSI, mental disability system. Many, many able bodied young Americans are getting set up for SSI for the rest of their lives. Able bodied, and no more mentally ill than the average burnout. I know mental illness, I've worked with the mentally ill all of my life. There certainly are a lot of people who are mentally disabled and can't really keep a job in society. But, what I'm seeing is a very large % of the newer SSI recipients not mentally ill in the traditional sense(before the drug companies had a new pill for every emotional imperfection), they are low functioning, undisciplined, unmotivated and, dare I say it, lazy. And here where I live, they're all white.
What ever happened to shame?

Yes Dave, Powell is a Republican. The problem is he's too honest for the Bush-Cheney crew and the Republican "base" that tried to perpetuate the fantasy that Sarah Palin was a qualified choice as VP. So now, angry Republicans are trying to smear the man they once fawned over

Yes, you're right, I didn't think the act of registering nonexistent voters alone was a crime, and it is (and in the case you cite, charges were dropped and replaced with a fine and increased oversite requirements by the organization as the registration fraud was done by individuals hired by the org. to make money, not stuff ballot boxes with fake votes).

What I was thinking of was that while there have been lots of accusations of ACORN voting fraud over the past two months (such as the joke you made to Scav about ACORN registering and voting in his name) those accusations have been false regarding the voting fraud, as there has never been a case of ACORN being accused of or involved in voting fraud (a vote actually being cast via a false registration).
