At this point, Z is a bad contract. At ten million, if he wasnt, there would be no need for a 38 year old shaq.
AGain, you're arguing about nothing as you always accuse me of doing. They want to win it all next year and nothing less than a finals appearance. As Cannon said, money is not a consideration at all this year. They'll need him next year...mainly for regular season minutes. As a team's number two center, he'll be the best in the league...as a number 1 center not so much, with his athletic challenges.

Do you have any understanding of the NBA situation in Cleveland right now?? Cannon said it perfectly. They become a non-entity if what's his name leaves.

Yawn....

Do you think Z's agent doesnt have a grasp on this situation? Z has a player option...right now. He can opt out.

If he was in a position where Cleveland really wanted to keep him, why wouldnt he just opt out and force cleveland to either pay him more or extend his contract?

I don't get it. So LeBron James didn't play the first four games? You seem to think making three pointers is simply a function of who Mo Williams was playing with. With James on the floor, as you stated it is hard to believe Williams shot 27 completely completely contested threes the first 4 games did he?? This paragraph alone would seem to completely throw your argument here into the toilet and support Cannon's argument that a wide open 3 is a wide open 3. He isn't simply making them simply because LeBron James is on the floor. But again, this paragraph was my point all series. The 3 was as huge for the Cavs as it was for Orlando. Orlando was simply hot this series and Cleveland wasn't.

My guess is because he is one of the nicest guys to ever suit up in the NBA. One of the classiest individuals ever. He is going to retire after this year which is why I'm guessing he won't opt out. I could be wrong, but I think this is a mega-character guy.

LOL. are you kidding me? Yeah, his agent is a "charcter guy" too i bet. LOL.

They won't opt out because they know neither the cavs nor anyone else will give him the 11.5 million he will make next year. But maybe that is too logical...never mind. We can go with the "character guy" thing.

Why dont you read the whole article instead of picking one small part out so that you can argue with me. PAY ATTENTION TO THE BOLDED PART.

Cannon says "no one doubles on the perimeter in the nba". It says in the article people do.

Cannon says that wide open three pointers have nothing to do with Lebron. it says in the article that they do.

Thats my only point. Whether they make them or not is immaterial.

What are you talking about?? He's done. He's played in Cleveland his whole career. He likes playing with LeBron. He has 8,000 screws in his feet. HE has no desire to play for anyone else and really his career is ending. He is a popular player. I honestly don't know what you're talking about.

I think Cannon's point is most 3 pointers taken in the NBA are wide open 3's. Offenses are designed to get open shots. At any level, it is not advised to take contested long range shots. I agree with you. The argument seemed to be that made 3's are a result of who's on the floor, not on the fact that you're wide open.

He has a PLAYER OPTION. He is getting paid 11.5. If the Cavs needed him and didnt care about moeny, why wouldnt he opt out and get paid more????

It really is that simple. And the answer as to why he doesnt?

A. Because there is no way the cavs or anyone else will pay him that much.

B. Because he is a "character guy" and so is his agent.

You are right. B is the answer.

AGain, what are you arguing. The Cavs are a desperate team. My guess is Ilgauskas likes his current contract, has played in one location his entire career, and knows he won't get paid more. This is a non issue that you insist on arguing about. The Cavs are desperate and have no qualms about money this year.

You can lay crap all you want. Ilgauskas is a good guy. End of story.

I guess Jason Kidd doesnt know what he is talking about either.
Wide open shots aren't necessarily three point shots. There are very few players in the league that can take contested threes without being planted on the bench. Most three point attempts are open shots.

I think the original argument was that guys playing with Lebron should hit a higher percentage of 3's because they play with lebron and he attracts all of the attention. chuck's point of view is that a guy shooting a 3 pointer in the NBA is no more open with lebron than without him.

My position is that guys do get easier looks playing with Lebron. The other side of that however is that one could say that there is more pressure to hit those wide open shots.

To answer the first question, no, you dont need kobe or lebron on your team to shoot uncontested threes. The point is that guys like that are going to create so much attention that three point shooters are going to get more unconteted looks.
Just because you are a girl doesn't mean I wont take your money!

Yeah, good guy...thats why he doesnt opt out. LOL

Why would he opt out? If he did then Cleveland would almost certainly offer him less to re-sign. I am not saying there is a great demand for him or that Cleveland wants to sign him long term. But they need a safety net and he provides the best option out there.

Yeah, but whether you want to admit it or not, there are degrees of being open. Open enough to shoot? yes, I would agree most 3 point shots are taken when a guy is open enough to shoot a reasonable shot that isnt forced.

It seems to me that some of the shots Lebron's teammates get are incredibly wide open. Like, no one within 10 ft wide open. Wide open where they can actually take a dribble and set up if they want. I will find two videos and post them and show you what i mean.

But isnt what you are saying furthering my point that what they are paying him, 11.5 for 18 minutes a game, is not by choice?

If they could get rid of that contract and sign Pechulia for 6 million, you dont think they would?

You are right. B is the answer.
c. Because that would perhaps keep Cleveland from adding another FA which would cost him his best chance at a championship ring. Maybe they told him if you opt out we'll sign Rasheed and let you go? Maybe he doesn't want to call their bluff and take a chance in the worst FA market in years that he can get the same money?

Or maybe, as you said earlier, they know cleveland wouldnt pay him 11.5 million dollars for 18 minutes a game. no team would. Thats starter money.

If cleveland could get rid of that contract, they would.
