Good way to end the meet. Loved getting a 35/1 home. Hope everyone got a piece.

Just curious if you’re ranking horses as A and B’s were you typically playing caveman tickets or tickets that weighted your A’s higher than B’s?

I usually limit tickets to $50-60 on pick 4s and tried to keep the a and b fit this in the thread. Sometimes I’ll go 72 on big days or $90 max. Today I played all them ($90) as I posted since it was last day. But that’s very rare. I don’t see value in long run going higher. When it gets too high I did weigh a’ and best bets higher. I like the 2/3/4/5 structure or 1/4/5/6 ($60 bets). I put the a and b in this thread to give some direction on my opinions. I’m trying to get better at these. I still think dd’s are the best values but enjoyed trying this for the meet. I am ready for a break. Cheers

You should read Steve Crist’s Book on exotic betting if you are serious about playing pick 4’s. It helped me a lot on ticket structure which was an area I really struggled.

I'll take a look at it. I still enjoy dd's better as I like to handicap in real time to find value but pick 4's are fun when you have some time. Appreciate the info.

I hear ya. It’s beneficial for any area of exotic betting (DD’s, pk3, pk4, exacta, triples, etc). The idea is to maximize your strong opinions. In essence to weigh your A’s more heavily in tickets so when your stronger opinions cash, you really cash.

That’s why I was asking if you were playing caveman tickets. I realize on here it’s a pain to post multiple tickets. But I think in the long run it’s a more cost effective approach as well as a way to make your opinions matter when they win. The hardest thing for me was accepting the fact I might miss a score or two because I didn’t spread as heavily. But, when I hit, I was hitting for amounts way higher than before. I don’t play like that as much anymore, but for the year or so I was, I did really well.
