I actually agree with this 100% Geeker.

Both performed well but that only really serves Palin. Palin went into this looking less than impressive from the last couple of interviews. She stayed poise, connected with the crowd and didnt say anything really stupid.

There were many independants and borderline republicans that were falling away from mccain because of Palin. Palin did a good job of regaining a little bit of support.

I would bet the race gets tighter from here.

My attempts to hijack this thread and make it all about Sun Tzu have failed. I should have known.

Knowledge of the enemy's dispositions can only be obtained from other men.

Hence the use of spies, of whom there are five classes: (1) Local spies; (2) inward spies; (3) converted spies; (4) doomed spies; (5) surviving spies.

When these five kinds of spy are all at work, none can discover the secret system. This is called "divine manipulation of the threads." It is the sovereign's most precious faculty.

'the art of war' eh? a little light reading?

palin didn't do as badly as many thought she would. i guess some would consider that a victory. i had to turn it off a few times, as palin gets on my nerves...and, as joey said, she says 'nucular' instead of nuclear--ugh, another pet peeve of mine. again, reminded me of bush. not good for her.
my husband thought it was funny when she said 'mccain tapped me...' typical guy!

at any rate, i thought biden did a good job, seemed to have more actual 'facts' (altho i can't verify if all those numbers he gave are truly accurate) while palin pretty much stuck to a script. i thought it telling however when she didn't (couldn't?) defend mccain when biden mentioned that the 'maverick' ( if i had a dollar for every time i heard that) was for more de-regulation on wall street.

and did you catch the gore-esque sigh towards the end?? at any rate, biden did what everyone expected, while palin was better than many thought she'd be. i have to say i think i'd feel more comfortable with biden having to assume the top spot if needed than i would if palin had to move to #1.

In warfare - you have five essentials for victory.

* (1) He will win who knows when to fight and when not to fight.

* (2) He will win who knows how to handle both superior and inferior forces.

* (3) He will win whose army is animated by the same spirit throughout all its ranks.

* (4) He will win who, prepared himself, waits to take the enemy unprepared.

* (5) He will win who has military capacity and is not interfered with by the sovereign.

Hence the saying: If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.

None of that really has anything to do with winning a debate ... but I think the next part in the good book tells how.

* The good debaters of old first put themselves beyond the possibility of defeat, and then waited for an opportunity of defeating the enemy.

* To secure themselves against defeat lies in their own hands, but the opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself.

* Thus the good debater is able to secure himself against defeat, but cannot make certain of defeating the enemy.

* Hence the saying: One may know how to conquer without being able to do it.
Whatever you're reading these days is interesting... I was going to say Art of War,but I thought it might be too Zen-like for ya!

Biden won only one category, quantity of lies. He had as many as fourteen flat out lies. To his credit he didn't make any of the gaffes he's known for, and he does get extra credit for once again tearing up and mentioning that his wife and daughter were killed in an auto accident, 36 years ago.

Other than that Palin cleaned his clock.

LOL that is almost word for word what Karl Rove said on Fox right after the debate. You are in fine company. This campaign accusing the other side of lying is akin to China charging the US with human rights violations.

I thought she did well though. She even lifted a line from Reagan (or tried to). Thankfully for her, most of the country doesnt want facts or statements of policy but rather just rehearsed talking points. She delivered those crisply and confidently

I think the race got tighter.

Palin didn't screw up, but Biden didn't make her look bad either.

She obviously did well in her debate preparations, contrary to reports, so I give her credit for being smart enough as a quick study(I think most or all of this foreign affairs stuff is new to her). I feel strangely happy for her that she did well.

They should just let her go, and be the cheerleader she is.( What's up with this "USA,USA" chant she, and the rabid Repubs, start up? Just who are they trying to convince of their patriotism?)

That it totally on point! Totally and completely. WE ARE ALL TO BLAME and thats why putting any partisanship on blame is just silly.

I have been watching and waiting for some kind of issues to come out of the boom since 2004. Never in my wildest nightmares did i think it would be THIS bad.

Just reading the reviews of the debate this morning for I am somewhat surprised Palin is getting mostly positive reviews. I thought she was scripted for the most and rarely answered the questions directed at her. Alot of generalizations, misdirection and dribble....Biden was more concise, knew the issues and in my opinion won the debate. Nothing like low expections to skew the reviews the following day.

I can't find the correct thread here, but someone was nice enough(Cajungator) to give me a YOUTUBE link to a Larry Sinclair video, claiming he blew Obama while Barack smoked crack.

I much prefer the following video, however, of a very effeminate black guy who was roughly manhandled by Obama and limo driver-a twelve inch and ten inch double penetration. They didn't even say good-bye!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIklJ...eature=related

These guys don't seem very legit. I'm not sure if they're as credible as the reports of McCain shoving or hitting the old woman in the wheelchair
