It was really sad. It was just one of those ones where he must have taken a bad step, and he went down. The official report says he fractured his off fore leg.
There was a huge crowd there, and they all went completely quiet. The rest of the day was not far away from being the best I've ever seen, but that was one of the worst moments in all the time I've liked racing.

Eileen Dubh wins it in a photo finish with St Germaine.
It was a really exciting race, but both of those horses were easily beaten by Katie Lee in the 1000 Guineas. Either this was a weak G1 race or Katie Lee's very good. Or maybe both. I'll post the replay soon.
