Actually I give them some credit for last night. The easy thing would have been to shut down the passing game just to make Favre look bad and let Adrian Peterson dice them. Instead they put forth the best strategy to win the game, namely shutting down Adrian Peterson better than anyone in 14 games and making Favre beat them. The officials took away their one INT on a terrible interference call and the D even came up with a TD. The Packers problem was not their defense. It is the giant gaping hole at LT. I thought #73 was the worst lineman I had ever seen, thought that at least until he got hurt and his backup came in. Egads. They should go sign Langston Walker, Jon Runyan, and Levi Jones. Between the three of them maybe they could find something better than an open door at left tackle.

that was a TERRIBLE pass interference call. Thought of Coach Pants immediately as that screwed his bet.

It's not that bad. O-line played horrible, lost the turnover battle, obviously got no calls our way and still only lost by 7. I now know how horrible it is to be on the other end of the farve love fest by the 4 letter network. He played great last night, but no way Favre would have made it thru the game if he had our line protecting him. packers get clifton and the o-line straight they will be just fine. If not we might see Flynn by week 9. Rodgers needs to learn to get rid of the ball a little quicker.

Definitely agree the Interference call was terrible, but there was an offsides penalty also. The Defense is not the reason the team is 2-2 in fact they are definitely the reason they beat the Bears in Week 1. Their run defense is definitely upgraded from last year. They are #1 in takeaway differential. #2 in actual number of turnovers. The only problem there is they have the same problem with the Bears and what I saw from Pitt-SD. They are going for the strip first before the tackle and that could lead to disasterous consequences.

That offensive line is downright horrible. 61, 46, 99, 51 for Grant on the ground and the 99 came from St. Louis.

Favre threw for 271 yards on 24-31 passing with 3 tds. If they didnt get up big, he would have gotten over 300 easily. That defensive performance was not good. You stack 7-8 in the box against any back and he is going to have a hard time running. Favre had been sacked 9 times leading up to last night. The pack didnt get him down one time. This from a Dom Capers defense.

Green Bay's defense has been poor for every game except the opener when Cutler was suffering from color blindness. Even in that game, The Bears outgained the pack 352-226 and Cutler threw for 277 yards. Even against the Rams...the horrible rams with the horrible kyle boller...they gave up 2 td passes and 336 total yards.

I understand you guys are fans but you have to take your head out of the cheese wiz. There are serious problems with that secondary and they just arent getting enough pressure to hide it.

If you can't understand how thin you have to be stretched in the secondary to hold Adrian Peterson to 2.2 yards per carry then I don't think we can even argue football. They committed to stopping Peterson and make Favre beat them and he did. This loss falls on the offensive line and Rodgers getting happy feet once the line kept failing him, there is no way you can pin that loss on their defense.

yeah, were they committed to stopping Cedric Benson as well? They have given up over 300 yards of total offense in each game including over 300 to the RAMS.

Do you realize the Rams have scored 24 points all season and 17 of those were against the packers? do you realize that the Rams have gained 300 total yards 1 time all year and that was also against the Pack?

Where did I say their defense played well against the Rams? They didn't. But the reason they lost last night was not cause of the defense. They were the 22nd ranked defense last year. I believe I said Capers could improve them to 14th. They are 18th right now. I'd say 14th is still incredibly reasonable considering 3 of their next 4 are against Cleveland, Detroit, and Tampa Bay.

Favre threw for 154 yards on 14-17 passing with two touchdowns...in the first half. He led drives of 67, 77 and 84 yards...and two of those drives were over 6 minutes long...all in the first half.

And the defense wasnt the reason they lost? Maybe i watched a different game. Heck, maybe i watch a different sport.

Yeah, cause completely shutting down the best player in football counts for absolutely nothing.

LOL. No, it really doesnt if you allow that kind of production from the opposing offense. Are you joking? A team committed to stopping one player is generally going to stop him...especially a running back. Quick, through four games, how many 100 yard games does peterson have? Thats right...ONE. Does it matter? No, the vikes are winning and the team is moving the ball. Teams dont get credit for stopping one player. They get credit for stopping an offense.

The Packers defense fell woefully short of stopping the Vikings. When it mattered, they couldnt get off the field as evidenced by the long scoring drives.

It's called gameplanning. Their gameplan was to stop Peterson and make Favre beat them through the air. The gameplan worked. The problem was Favre played well and had his only mistake taken away by a phantom penalty. Plain and simple, when you commit all your resources to stopping the run you can get picked apart through the air if the QB has a good day.

100 yards is some magical number made up by the media cause it looks pretty when they add an extra digit. Peterson's yards per carry is far more significant. His YPC this year was 7.2, 6.5, 4.5, and then 2.2 last night. That is impressive. Last year he was under 3.5 YPC once, in a game in which New Orleans committed to stopping Peterson and make Gus Frerotte beat them which he did with 222 yards and no turnovers.

Gameplanning your ass. LOL. It was a bad gameplan then. Any way you try to spin it, the defense didnt play well and hasnt played well this season.

After watching GB three times already this season it is hard to say their defense is anything more than mediocre at best. They looked pretty good against Chicago but Cutler kept throwing them the ball. Seemed like Favre has a lot of time to make plays and it also seemed like guys were open a lot. While they surely wanted to limit Peterson, dont forget he tweaked his leg on the fumble play and did not play nearly as much afterwards. Their offensive line is offensive.

I agree with everything that you are saying here. At the end of the day, a secondary is only as good as a pass rush allows it to be. They have 5 sacks so far and thats not a deceiving stat like in the case of the Jets where they are constantly putting pressure on the QB but just not getting there. Favre had all day to throw it and would have easily thrown for 300 yards if they werent up by two touchdowns in the third quarter.

Green Bay has plenty of room for upside. The 3-4, especially capers's version, is complicated and it is a giant shift from previous years. So far they have stunk though and they stunk last night.
