I didn't remotely do that.

Who is ignoring that? I posted a article about that very thing early on in this thread. Seems you are a bit late to the party, jumping on that bandwagon.

You have to read this:

http://www.cnn.com/2011/OPINION/02/1...x.html?hpt=T2#

"If you are a woman living in Cairo, chances are you have been sexually harassed. It happens on the streets, on crowded buses, in the workplace, in schools, and even in a doctor's office.

According to a 2008 survey of 1,010 women conducted by the Egyptian Center for Women's rights, 98 percent of foreign women and 83 percent of Egyptian women have been sexually harassed."

98% of foreign women and 83% of Egyptian women seem like its a huge cultural problem to me.

But hey, Riot will just call me a bigot because I feel like Muslim men... particularly in the Middle East.. treat women like absolute dog crap.
Sexual harassment is a disgusting practice. But wouldn't you agree that there is a pretty big difference between sexual harassment and what happened here?
Clearly there is a vast cultural divide with regard to the rights of women, but the implication in the thread seemed to be that "Democracy In Egypt" would mean the systematic raping of women. I think its a bit more complicated than that, and I think Riot was correct in pointing out that the weeks of protest without widespread reports of rape shouldn't be tossed aside by this one - admittedly horrendous - incident.

I don't think anybody is saying that an Egyptian democracy will mean a state where women are afforded equal rights. But that doesn't mean it will automatically be a society where women are raped all the time (or where rape is viewed as acceptable) either.

Stop trying to inject reason, sanity and thought about a real and serious subject into a "bash Riot" thread.

Well....when people ask you to explain a point that you made and you refuse to do so and instead just tell them that they're "full of ****" I'm not going to feel all that sorry for you.

That is why it is extremely important that outside interests make sure that a strict version of Islam is not put in place in Egypt. It is very important that the Muslim Brotherhood, or people with those ideals (Sharia Law) stay out of Egyptian politics.

Because with Sharia Law, and the 100,000,000 Muslims who practice / believe that... rape is acceptable. You are ALLOWED to rape your wife. and if you rape women, she will be punished for "fornication".. sometimes with the death penalty.

It is important that we dont turn a blind eye to these disgusting practices that occur in the Middle East every day.

But I'm just a bigot, so what do i know!

also, sexual harrassment in Egypt seems a little bit different than our definition over here.. Women get groped in public, treated like lower class, are generally considered to not be on the same stature as men.

It seems unlikely that they'll be kept "out." If a parliamentary system is what they end up with, it seems likely that the Muslim Brotherhood will win some seats. How many is, of course, impossible to know, but I don't see how they could be kept out entirely.

Yeah. Because saying, "Glad she'll be okay" was really evil of me.

And maybe you should go back and read the beginning of this thread, and count all those people asking me to explain that point? And who was insulting and attacking who?

That's not what she was asking you to explain.
She asked about your football celebration example, and you refused to explain.

That's fine I guess, but I'm not sure why you're surprised when people "bash" you when you insist on behaving in that fashion.

I just hope for the Egyptian people... the women and children especially... that this process goes as well as it can go.

If the wrong people get in power and enforce a strict version of Islam, there will not only be danger for the people of Egypt (especially the women / children), but for the entire world.

Last thing we need is another Ahmadinejad in a country like Egypt.

Strange attitude you have about who is allowed to say what. Someone spends several posts dissing me and insulting me, then suddenly pretends they want to have a serious conversation, and I should just ignore their behaviour a few minutes prior?

Have you read this thread? Go back to page one, read it through, and count how "badly" I've behaved.

Listen you dumb biatch you said you were "glad she was all right" not that 'she was all right'! Quote me right!

and from KY glad you know she's all right. Again when in America have 200 men of any religion banned up and sexually attacked a woman? Tell us again how great Egypt is compared to the rest of Muslim countries!

On behalf of the reporter and all women GFY!
