FTFY. Accurately timed races matter a lot if you know how to use them.

Not only that, it often changes between races, particularly when a few turf races are thrown in between. Assuming the JCGC track speed was the same as the other dirt races is a pretty big leap.
So, wait, you're telling us that Ron the Greek wouldn't have beaten Borrego, who won his Gold Cup by eight lengths, by 20 lengths?

Just taking a shot in the dark, I'll say no.

Thank God for Trakus then...I play based on the pretty color of the horses.

What's oddest about Haskin's comment is he surely knows better. Maybe someone hacked his twitter account.

That Borrego Gold Cup is one of Durkins best calls, I love it.

While this is slightly off-topic as to the BC, you have tweeted several times about the wide variances of run-up at Gulfstream. Has anyone approached them about this and what has their answer been?

They ignore me. They don't answer emails, and I get the run around when I call.

As usual, horse players are not treated like the customers who pay their salary. Ass backwards.

In three different tries, nobody can ever seem to figure out to whom my question should be directed. I suggested the track superintendent, or even the head of the gate crew, to no avail.

It was 1/9 this colt was finished. He never sees the track again gets retired to a stud farm and I you know it because we have seen play out the same way for years. I just don't hate on Pletcher to be a jerk. I realize he has only a handful of equals and is a world class professional. All that aside his horses run great until they don't and once they sour its Sabbath Shalom.

when reading the article on bloodhorse about cross traffic, i was reminded of this back and forth between you and andy...

GoldMark Farm's Whitney Invitational Handicap (gr. I) winner Cross Traffic will not run in the Nov. 2 Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I) after sustaining a minor shin injury when the track broke out from underneath him at the start of the Sept. 28 Jockey Club Gold Cup (gr. I) at Belmont Park, his connections said Oct. 2.

It'll be frustrating if it plays out that way and yes, the A.P. Arrow's are few and far between with Pletcher. Back to GoldMark in Ocala for now: http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-raci...iss-bc-classic

I'm trying to figure out what a "minor" shin injury could be for a 4 year old.

The only thing that broke was the colt. Let's not forget that until very recently UBS was the poster stallion for very fast fragile animals. That whole he didn't break well, tricky post position, KAKA was utter nonsense. Sure he didn't break well and now we know half of the reasons why. They patched him up and took a shot at JCGC. I guess they figured what did they have to lose right, now its to risky to further expose him.

I'm always amused at how "minor" all the injuries are. As I said the only injury that an older horse's shin could have that would be relatively minor would be a cut of some sort which wouldn't necessitate shipping back to Florida to asses the situation.
