it's a conversation that never goes anywhere, but that i can never keep out of when other people are having it. one of the comments you made was a perfect example, the thing that really pissed me off, about that short film.

i can't imagine not getting involved (even though i was previously involved) and saying something about that. what if someone had found that on the internet and watched it and just didn't think -- but was so mortified by what they were seeing that it never occurred to them that it could be wildly exaggerated and at times, outright false?

i just will never pretend to be familiar with something that i am not. you will not catch me pretending i know a thing about mortgages, veterinary medicine, or how on EARTH (!) marshmallows get made, among other things.

there isn't much else to say, but that when we inevitably end up arguing politics or abortion in the future -- to just remember that my life has created my beliefs, not the other way around.

Your life has created your beliefs....how is that exactly?

i'm just saying that my beliefs have changed considerably since i was younger. my mom never felt the need to instill in me any agenda, or any core set of beliefs, like a Christian family may do, for example.

I've moved around a bunch, met lots of different people, and done lots of different things (some good, some terrible).

Those experiences have shaped and created my beliefs. My beliefs did not shape the path my life took, because I was more or less a blank slate halfway through high school. For example, I was an atheist. For example, I used to trend far far FAR more liberal -- to the point of being insane about it instead of reasonable. Experiences in my life have changed these beliefs.

Not sure if I'm saying it the right way.

Now I need to move to the Esoteric room. Though I'm blaming you.

Well...I was never far far lib..but I dabbled. Funny...but moderation in all things. If you qualify all your experiences, and then whittle that down to find out who you are ..then you're ahead of the game!
