It truly is a contagious condition - intolerance, that is. Hope you didn't hurt yourself too badly in the explosion.

I'd probably disagree with you on almost any other issue but,

I actually agree with you on this.

I don't necessarily think it's a bad thing that Mexicans want to come here, but there should be a legal procedure if we want to make it easier on them. Everyone in this country, whether visiting or here for a longer stay, should be properly documented!

See this:

Stipulates that a law enforcement official or agency cannot solely consider race, color or national origin when implementing these provisions, except as permitted by the U.S. or Arizona Constitution.

Now, how do you make sure that cops will follow this part? .

I also agree with you as long as a non USA citizen has the proper documentation they are more than welcomed to come here.

I'm back, after having read SB1070-492R and it does seems unfair. If you don't have proper papers, you will be fined minimum $1000, plus legal fees & possible imprisonment. Why not just send them back?
If you hire an illegal, you could be fined $1000 per alien if it's 10 more UNLESS (loophole, loophole)...You didn't KNOW they were illegal.

How's a Mexican looking for a job gonna come up with all that money? They're just gonna end up in a US prison...and for what crime.....trying to make some money?
Of course we don't want drugs & criminals. This law doesn't target those cartels.

I'm still back to wanting open borders with our neighbors seeking a day's work.

the arizona legislature is working on passing a rehabilitation bill removing the word "solely".

they know as worded it wouldn't get past even this supreme court.

ignoring the actual issue of immigration, the only thing dem's could have asked in terms of electoral politics is that arizona waited until september to pass this bill.

this doesn't play into the republican narrative for november at all. they already have the pissed off white folk vote nailed down. the last thing they needed was doofus arizona legislator's handing brown people another reason to go out and vote again.

i still think hispanics could be an important part of the republican base if they'd just get out of the habit of constantly reminding them how much they're not wanted.

All the good citizens of Arizona are rushing around making copies of their birth certificates and passports, eager to comply with this new law, having to prove their citizenship upon demand from a local cop when they get stopped for speeding.

All of us have to carry a driver's license anyway. All of us carry our insurance papers in the car.

Is it really a big deal to leave a copy of your birth certificate/passport by the car insurance papers? I don't think it would be.

I'm just a natural at picking a fight on the opposing team's bench.

they really need a birth certificate? Wouldnt a drivers license be enough proof?

Reminds me of the seatbelt law in NY. When they wanted it passed, they promised the cops wouldn't pull anyone over just for not wearing a seatbelt. HAR! You will get pulled over just for not wearing a seatbelt, in fact, you will get pulled over for no reason at all if the cops feel like pulling you over. As for the jobs Americans won't do... cut off welfare from some of the scammers in this country and you will be surprised at the jobs they will do. Unfortunately (fortunately?) most of the illegals coming into this country for work bring something with them that seems to be in short supply here. It's called "work ethic".
