Sometimes the short field thing is a little overrated.About a year an a half ago,I got knocked out in a 4 horse race.It was gunna be a 5 horse race (with 3 pace types.) So,Dutrow has 2 horses in there, and I used the rater of the 2(decent rater..atleast at one time..called Nebraska Moon.)At the last minute, the other Dutrow horse got scratched(I think at the gate,) and it was then a 4 horse race(2 speed horses, and 2 raters.)The 2 speed horses had a manlove agreement up front, and so it came down to which of the 2 raters was gunna get 3rd.Lost that little battle by about 3/4 of a length. You can get kicked out...any race...short field won't always save ya.

I agree with you, it depends on the field and some things out of your control. Well, today is shaping up to be pretty productive. I knew it was going to be a tougher day than yesterday.

narrowing it down for today, either french souvenir, ymustichasedacat, or chocolate lava... I'm inclined to take FS even though I have YMICC selected at the moment.

nothing but the dog in me...but, I'm going with Chocolate. again, staying out of the way of the crowd in a relatively small field. Good luck to all.

Good luck to all the DT people still alive. How many of you are there anyway?
Is it just Jman and rontheman?

well, we can't both be "the man"... good luck ron.

Actually, based on last time, I figure if either of us are going to win it we're only about half way home...this is the proverbial "turn towards home."

Jman, we need a heavy favorite to be off the board and pare down the remaining entrants. Of course, hopefully we aren't on that particular fav...hahaha (Maybe Rags to Riches today??) I like the small field theory. Especially if you can find a speed horse who can cut some easy fractions. Anyway, good luck to you also. This thing isn't close to being finished the way we are going right now.

Still so mad about the slipped saddle that knocked me out. It's not that I picked a bad runner - she nearly made third despite everything. Still contend it was sabotage.<grin>

Chocolate Lava closed out the week for me. Did anyone see Magnificience? WOW, what a race she ran after getting left at the gate.

At least we're making some progress today with all the people that picked John the Maitre D. Glad I stayed off of French Souvenir!

I guess people didn't notice that Johnny-boy had never even hit the board at Santa Anita. I really liked Ymustichasethecat in this race in this one, singled him in a pick 3, which I blew later on. Sigh.

Brad Free had Johnny Maitre D picked I think...I can't see any other reason why 10% of contestants would have picked him...made little sense!

Tale of the Scale is in the 2nd race Wed.....FYI he was the winning horse in Showvivor #1. He ran third and the other 2 people took the same horse who was off the board.

Seriously, this horse is gunna have to get hurt,or knocked down(to run off the board.)Even if she clipps hills, and stuck behind horses, she may get up for 3rd.
