Anyway unless PG retracts his bet on her we are going to scratch. Way too much weight carrying PG and 115 lbs.

In addition to the excitment of the race tomorrow, I'm looking forward to watching the opening tote action to see how far from that 30-1 M/L Sumwon drops......
I was in a partnership about 10 years ago and it too was internet based with over 70 members from across the country. We had claimed a horse and first time out for us he ran in a race he simply didn't belong in. 25-1 M/L against a bunch of tough horses and he probably deserved 50-1. Opening tick he dropped to 1/5. We were in the 7th race and everyone must have made their bets as soon as they arrived at the track earlier in the day. I don't know if we can damage the Keeneland opening pool like that but I'm guessing 5/1, or lower, first tick....... |

I know you guys are having a blast with your first race with your first horse but from the outside looking in you might want to consider a more reasonable spot. True anything can happen when the gates open and I wish you luck.
Just the morning line odds should be a reminder of this. Asking a young horse to do not one but two new things (surface and distance) and the fierce competition at Keeneland will be alot to handle. |

Lets see how she measures up. It is an aggressive placement but certainly not unprecendented. Take a young well bred filly with a bit of natural speed, change up the training routine, and perhaps if she is relaxed and takes to the surface she could surprise a few people. Being off since January she may need a race or two anyway to reach her peak. Why not race her on the Keeneland lawn and get a sense of her current class and suitability to the surface.
I don't think that these connections are aiming to necessarily "strike at first asking". If they wanted to do that they could put her in a $20K N2L claimer at Mountaineer, after putting some bullet drills in her. Rather I think the idea is to see if she can be developed perhaps gradually into something a little more special. just my take. |

If They Come Off The Turf Does Somewon Still Go
Obviously we have to think about this as with folks traveling literally hundreds of miles to get to Lexington it is probably worth asking if we have a horse in the race if they take it off the turf. Surely this is Chuck's decision only ........and with the poly the leap from turf to poly isn't a great reach but I wanted to try and get some idea as the weather forcasts for the area are less than encouraging DrD |

DRF 'Closer Look' on Sumwon
Pleasant comment by DRF Closer Look writer Bill Howard about SWLY tomorrow:
Sumwonlovesyou Speedy filly has been in front after the opening quartermile in each of her last four races and is certainly the one to catch today; unfortunately the presence of Christies Treasure, Quiet Action and Nola Star will make the front end a rather busy place to be; gets a class test in addition to a turf test.
