The question...
Is the continuing insanity only creating more "terrorists"?

http://www.commondreams.org/views06/0722-29.htm

My heart breaks for the murder of innocents, the children, the aged.
Short term, they are being destroyed.
Long term, they'll remember.

Ideas don't die. Only fools believe so.
Do present Israeli actions and US support of same make us safer?

I expect the fools to respond positively.

Back in the 60's, I had a poster in my room that said, "War is unhealthy for all living things"! It was a pretty well known poster. Of course, that's why war is hell...(even though I don't believe in such). No denying that innocent folks ALWAYS die! I'm not saying that I want to see war, I'm just saying that the nation of Israel has a right to exist and it's people have a right to defend themselves. How do we stop the circle of violence as long as Syria and Iran feed it? If there is a peaceful way, please find it! Otherwise, which will ultimately save more lives...allowing the status quo to continue with Israel and the terrorists mounting a constant body count, or going to the root of the problem and confronting Iran and Syria? If there is no other way then lets end it now! Maybe if the world united and told these two terrorist states, "stop now or we will stop you!" they would listen without bloodshed...that is where folks efforts should be spent rather than blaming Israel for defending itself imo!

I can only give you an answer that my Dad, a decorated WWII officer and "wise man" said to me. His words:

"Wars aren't settled on battlefields. That's where people go to die for their beliefs. They are settled when the ones that put them there sit down at a table."

My thought..."Talk first, listen twice."

Very true! The problem is that the old men with the power aren't dying on the battlefield and neither are their sons so words such as "honor" and things such as religious BS have more importance to them than the cost in human life!

Well said SF.
Jesus said, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God."

And He also said..."Let those that have ears hear."
Your words speak to that.

I dug this thread up so I could post today's current events.
Poodle Blair is in DC meeting with Dubbya, Condi is on her "peace mission"..again....setting herself up to run against Gulianni.
Israel has decided to not allow a three day truce for humanitarian aid as per UN recommendation. And the Arab world is very pissed off (rightly so).
God help us!

Nobody listens, they just do what they want. I don't need Jesus telling me this either. If their is a God I doubt he/she/whatever would want people to kill each other.

True.
One I remember reading went like this (without qualification).

"Thou shall not kill."

This is about the funniest thing i have read on here. Its like you stopped just short of saying "anakin, only the sith deal in absolutes". lol

You think you stand to the left and use terms like "destroy", "evil" and even "terrorist" in the same mangled diatribe?

You seem to like cliches. How about this one: One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. Think about that for one second.

Think about all sides of the issue before you start spouting off about "balance to the universe" and try just for a second to understand why the universe is just so "unbalanced" right now.
there are freedom fighters...people like those who founded this country for instance. funny thing tho about washington et al...they didn't blow up people in bus stops, cafes and the like...why, they actually fought against an army. not civilians... there were no suicide bombers. no hiding out in neighborhoods while they lobbed cannonballs. nope, fought out of forts. now that's a freedom fighter.
then there are people like gandhi and martin luther king jr. got what they wanted peacefully.
anyone who doesn't know what a terrorist is...well, i'm speechless if you can't tell the difference.

Different time, different place and the analogy just doesnt fit in any way shape or form.

Was Ho Chi Minh a terrorist?

Bold Ruler,
While agree with much of what you say, it might be time to take a drive up the Jersey side of the Hudson to Tappan. Just take 9W north.
The site is now called the '76 House...good food there btw.
Anyway, the tree is gone but the historic marker remains.
It's where a man named John Andre was hanged after he obtained secrets to support the British cause.
I'll just say that war brings out the worst in human nature, not the best.
Whether it happened "yesterday" or "today", it's the same story, again and again.
One man's "terrorist" is another one's "freedom fighter".
The victors get to label their judgement and write the text books.
Peace!

You are probably right. Even George Washington was viewed as a terrorist.

I think Benjamin Franklin said it best "There never was a good war or a bad peace."

Thanks for the Ben F quote. I'll remember it.
And I really meant it about the 76 house...a beautiful drive along the Hudson with a nice meal. West Point isn't too far from there.
I think you'd like it.
