Not at all. My stance started with the race comments. Go back and read it all and its pretty clear. Does anyone know for sure that he took money? Last I read Auburn was cleared of anything to do with Cam Newton. And who is "people"
The 2 people, well mostly 1 that are arguing it with me are hardcore Bama and LSU fans, no bias there?

So your stance is he didn't take money?

I guess I just get a kick out of you of all people thinking someone's opinion is incorrect because of a perceived bias. Considering all of your opinions are usually based on some bias you have.

It was not just about the money. There was the race thing, thats when I brought Cam into it and said he is a stud. Its all there. If I had to say he took money I would say I dont know. No one really knows, do you know for sure? He seems really genuine on every interview I have seen him in. Maybe he is fooling me. Plus did anyone ever accuse Cam of wheeling and dealing? I think it was all his old man.

Right, at first the discussion was about race. We're way past that now. The conversation has moved to what he did or didn't take while at Auburn.

Sure, no one knows for sure, which is why people are giving their opinions on it. It's not like LSU or Alabama fans are the only people who think he might have done something wrong while in college. To me, where there is smoke, there is usually fire. Whether it was his father or him, it's wrong. I don't care if his father took the money and just gave it to the homeless...it's wrong.

Pretty black and white to me.

If you took money and gave it to the homeless, I would think its OK. Actually I would think you were a great man.

Here are some opinions.
  • Cam's dad participated in "something" that wasn't right regarding Cam's recruitment to Mississippi State. Auburn distanced itself from Cecil Newton.
  • What Cam knew or did not know - we'll never know.
  • Auburn was not implicated in any way.
  • Cam's involvement with Auburn from the day he stepped on the field was nothing but positive. He represented the school well from day one.
  • Many believe his Heisman moment came when he ran through the entire LSU defense en route to a 50 yard touchdown run. It was one of the most amazing things I've ever seen.
  • He engineered one of the greatest comebacks in Iron Bowl history in 2010. My grandkids, their grandkids will talk about it. Epic.
  • His rookie season as a pro has been spectacular. Team wins are not there, but tough to fault his individual effort. The Panthers are a markedly better team with Cam at QB.
  • As RockHard states, I too believe him to be a genuinely good guy (then again, I'm not privy to all of the inside information that some on this board claim to have).
  • RockHard has a few opinions of his own and the haters pile on.
LSU and Alabama are arguably the two best teams in the country - playing for a national championship in a few weeks. One of the best rivalry games over the last 10 years. (A heated rivalry too, although you could never tell it on this board with all the love for each other. Saban Bowl?) You think that would get their most ardent fans fired up. Stir the passion. Ignite the fire within. No, not this bunch. They're still pissed that Auburn won it all last year. That Cam won the Heisman. That the NCAA investigation is closed. And that Cam is enjoying success in the NFL.

War Cam Eagle.

Finally some comments from someone completely unbiased .

If anyone seems to not be able to get over last year, it's the guy still talking about what Newton did on the field last year. I guess when you get beat by Clemson, Arkansas, LSU, Georgia and Alabama in the same year it's best to live in the past. They sure showed Samford who was boss though.

Love the haters line by the way. Sure sign you're in over your head....call someone a hater.

Now, just a minute here.

Ever hear of a smoke machine?

Anyhoo...if someone takes money from swine to do something not hurtful to anyone;take that money and give it to needy people.....that is right righteous and good. There are no anyways about it.The ends can justify the means,at least as I laid it out.Robin Hood.Fine premise in that story.

I took time out of my rigorous exercise routine( one that would embarrass even SightyPooKins) and have to get back to it.So if you snot off to me, it may take a while for my reply. The outdoors phase is about to begin.

The act of taking the money is wrong. I don't care who he gives it to. No anyways about it.

Robin Hood?

None of this has anything to do with what the discussion was about. Cecil Newton isn't some modern day Robin Hood stealing from the rich to give to the poor.

lol

yeah, cause goodness knows if we raise a brow about money changing hands, it's because we're 'haters'. cam and his father got away with it. good for them. cam has talent, good for him. doesn't mean he's genuine.

no, his stance is that his dad took money for him to play at a college he didn't really want to go to, which does make his dad a pimp- but since he pimped his laptop stealing kid for his church, it's ok. he's not denying money changes hands, he's just pointing out that non-auburn fans have no business discussing it.

Hoss,

You're right. I'd like to retract the "haters" comment - and if I've mistakenly put you in that category - then I apologize.

The last thing this thread or forum needs is someone adding to the vitriol. Look for a kinder, gentler BigBlue in the future.

No need for fake apologies or to act disingenuous.

Uhm, exsqueeze me...but if you read back I was talking about your comment regarding 'stealing from swine and giving it to needy is wrong'...is what you said.

My fine work addressed this comment by you;it had nothing to do with the American Negro here in question.

You have just destroyed the wonderful role model,Mr. Hood, of so many youngsters.Their Mothers now hate you.

But love me.

So I hope you're proud of yourself.
