Not staying up for more beatings. The rail on the turn is a mud pit.

Haha, Ginga! What an effort. I didn't think he'd handle the ground at all. Tough little bugger.

Morning/Afternoon Aussie fans.

I'll try Faint Perfume in the Cup, she may be sitting on a big race.

I did everything wrong all day... just missed a huge price horse at keeneland, screwed up left and right so gave up but remembered the other two races and checked results and if anyone doesn't believe me that's cool but i added in the Craig Williams horseunderneath Culminate.

$1 exacta paid 148.00

Again if anyone thinks i'm full of **** that's fine. I'm just happy and need to tell someone or I'll explode.

I just made it back to this thead, esp after I fell asleep right after the race ended in the Caulfield Cup. Hard to fathom Descarado winning but full credit to Gai and CMunce. I thought Ginga Dude ran a blinder in the Davy Jones, much to my chagrin...didn't bet him, was fooled by the 1-7 record at the distance, should have known better, better be careful of the kiwis. Congrats SC on the Culminate hit.

Caulfield Cup was a very very open event this year, and with it raining for almost 24hrs prior to the race it was always going to make life tricky. There were many proven front runners - and on a normal (dry) track, this would have been won by a closer (most likely Alcopop or Shocking) but with the track as wet as it was, it was hard to make ground throughout the whole day.

Have form on a wet track was a must - and a low weight probably helped, too.

Looking at Descarado - he's often a front runner, who stays very well. Last time he raced over 2400m he finished a gallant second. He'd also had four runs on tracks officially rated either or slow and heavy, and guess what..... for those four runs he had two wins and two seconds.

It wasn't a shock for me, and yes, I did bet him - but only to place, and I came out of the race a couple of dollars up

While it is enjoyable to read this colorful language I do not understand much of it. I actually understand Snide better.

HUH? I had a cat named Ginger.

When is Hug a Ginga Day, and what does one do?

I think the date changes every year. People are encouraged to randomly hug redheads. An act of kindness to brighten the lives of people who are so often ridiculed.

NZ's bringing out the big guns on Cox Plate day!

I'd love to see Wall Street win the big one, but I just don't think he can beat SYT at that distance. I believe he could beat him at a mile, but I think the last 440m will take its toll and take the venom out of his amazing finishing kick.

If the track's a dead 4 or better, Katie should win the Tesio. She has a big weight to carry for a tiny little horse, but I don't think the others are really in her class. Look out.
