What's with these non-HOF trainers and fantasizing that every horse in their barn that remotely handles the turf should target the next Royal Ascot meet?

The sad thing is, Tiz the Bomb's racing career might have actually turned out better if he went to the Epsom Derby last year off his storming efforts at Turfway rather than a futile run in the Kentucky Derby on a surface he absolutely despises.

The trainer was able have enough vision to put him back on the turf in the summer (domestically, too!) but felt it was necessary to tinker with the horse's running style and inexplicably sent him hard in the sharply run Hall of Fame. Maybe McPeek thought by winning that Grade 2 race that he would get an automatic berth to the Arc de Triomphe for the horse and an automatic berth into the National HOF for himself.

I see today that we are still trying to send Tiz the Bomb to the lead and also giving up on his preferred middle distances to try to make him a stayer. Of course, in a similar vein, he's tried every experiment with the similarly now-hapless Classic Causeway...everything that is except sprinting him where he might get a renewed lease on life.

Give these two horses to Brittany Russell already...
